Abstract
The present disclosure includes a plurality of securing devices. For example, the present disclosure includes securing devices comprising sutures, everting anchors, and inverting anchors. The sutures and anchors disclosed herein may be capable of deployment to a depth within a body lumen, such that body tissue external to the body lumen is not damaged by the devices. Moreover, in various embodiments, the securing devices described herein may couple one or more medical devices (e.g., stents, grafts, and/or stent-grafts) to body tissue such as a body lumen.

1 . A suture constructed from a length of shape memory wire comprising:
a proximal stop tab and a body extending from the proximal stop tab that terminates in a distal sharp tip; and an edge extending along a length of the body of the suture so that axial rotation of the suture is inhibited during deployment; wherein the suture is configured to assume a curved shape during deployment such that the distal sharp tip penetrates a wall of a body lumen to exit the body lumen and reenter the body lumen in a manner that protects body tissue surrounding the body lumen from further damage by distal the sharp tip following penetration of the wall of the body lumen.
2 . The suture of claim 1 , wherein the suture is capable of being pressed against a first location by a basket.
3 . The suture of claim 2 , wherein the basket is axially compressed and forms an arc external of a delivery lumen from which the suture is deployed to stabilize the suture upon deployment.
4 . The suture of claim 1 , wherein the suture is configured to couple a medical device to the body lumen.
5 . The suture of claim 1 , wherein the body of the suture is configured to extend through an annular path following deployment.
6 . The suture of claim 1 , wherein the body of the suture comprises a plurality of edges extending along the length of the body.
7 . A suture comprising:
a stop tab and a shape memory body portion coupled to and extending from the stop tab, the shape memory body portion including a plurality of edges extending along a length of the body portion to inhibit axial rotation of the suture during deployment, the shape memory body portion terminating in a tip; wherein the shape memory body portion is configured to form a curved shape during deployment such that the shape memory body portion pierces a wall of a body lumen and exits the body lumen at a first location and reenters the body lumen at a second location.
8 . The suture of claim 7 , wherein the suture has an annular configuration in a deployed configuration following deployment.
9 . The suture of claim 8 , wherein a radius of the annular configuration is configured so that the suture does not pierce an outer surface of the wall of the body lumen.
10 . The suture of claim 7 , wherein the plurality of edges of the shape memory body portion includes four edges extending along the length of the shape memory body portion.
11 . The suture of claim 10 , wherein the four edges of the shape memory body portion defines a quadrilateral cross-section of the shape memory body portion.
12 . A securing device comprising:
a stent defining a delivery lumen, the stent configured to be disposed in a body lumen defined by a body lumen wall having an inner surface and an outer surface; a shape memory suture comprising a proximal stop tab, a distal sharp tip, and a body having length extending between the proximal stop tab and the distal sharp tip, the body of the shape memory suture including an edge extending along the length of the body that inhibits axial rotation of the shape memory suture during deployment, and the body of the shape memory suture assuming a curved shape during deployment such that the distal sharp tip is configured to pierce the inner surface of the body lumen wall and re-pierce the inner surface of the body lumen wall so that the shape memory suture does not pierce the outer surface of the body lumen wall and the body lumen wall is only partially penetrated in a deployed configuration following deployment; and wherein the suture is configured for deployment from the delivery lumen positioned within the body lumen.
13 . The securing device of claim 12 , wherein the securing device is adapted to being repositioned in situ.
14 . The securing device of claim 12 , wherein the shape memory suture has an annular configuration in the deployed configuration.
15 . The securing device of claim 12 , wherein the delivery lumen is substantially parallel to the inner surface of the body lumen wall.
16 . The securing device of claim 12 , further comprising a stabilizing apparatus including at least one wire configured to exit and reenter the delivery lumen, the at least one wire under an axially compressing force to form an arc external of the delivery lumen to stabilize the shape memory suture upon deployment.
17 . The securing device of claim 16 , wherein the stabilizing apparatus forms a basket.
18 . The securing device of claim 17 , wherein the shape memory suture is positioned in part by the stabilizing apparatus, wherein the stabilizing apparatus is pressed against the anchor and the anchor is pressed against the inner surface of the body lumen wall.
19 . The securing device of claim 12 , wherein the body of the suture comprises a plurality of edges extending along the length of the body.
