Abstract

The present invention provides for soybean plant and seed comprising transformation event MON89788 and DNA molecules unique to these events. The invention also provides methods for detecting the presence of these DNA molecules in a sample.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed:

1 . A transgenic soybean plant, seed, or plant part comprising a DNA molecule comprising SEQ ID NO: 1 flanking a glyphosate tolerant 5-enolpyruvyl-3-physphoshikimate synthase (EPSPS) coding sequence.

2 . The transgenic soybean plant, seed, or plant part of claim 1 , further defined as a soybean plant.

3 . The transgenic soybean plant, seed, or plant part of claim 1 , further defined as a soybean seed.

4 . The transgenic soybean plant, seed, or plant part of claim 1 , further defined as a soybean plant part.

5 . The transgenic soybean plant, seed, or plant part of claim 1 , wherein said DNA molecule further comprises:
 (a) nucleotides 1073-1113 of SEQ ID NO:9; (b) nucleotides 1043-1113 of SEQ ID NO:9; (c) nucleotides 1093-1133 of SEQ ID NO:9; (d) nucleotides 1093-1163 of SEQ ID NO:9; or (e) nucleotides 1043-1163 of SEQ ID NO:9.

6 . The transgenic soybean plant, seed, or plant part of claim 1 , wherein the DNA molecule is detectable using a pair of DNA primers, wherein the first DNA primer comprises at SEQ ID NO:5, SEQ ID NO:10, SEQ ID NO:18, or the complete complement of any thereof, and the second DNA primer comprises SEQ ID NO:8 or the complete complement thereof, and wherein said pair of DNA primers is useful in a DNA amplification method to produce an amplicon comprising SEQ ID NO:1.

7 . The transgenic soybean plant, seed, or plant part of claim 1 , wherein the DNA molecule is detectable using a DNA probe comprising a nucleotide sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:1, SEQ ID NO:3, and SEQ ID NO:15.

8 . A transgenic soybean plant, seed, or plant part comprising a DNA molecule comprising SEQ ID NO: 2 flanking a glyphosate tolerant 5-enolpyruvyl-3-physphoshikimate synthase (EPSPS) coding sequence.

9 . The transgenic soybean plant, seed, or plant part of claim 8 , further defined as a soybean plant.

10 . The transgenic soybean plant, seed, or plant part of claim 8 , further defined as a soybean seed.

11 . The transgenic soybean plant, seed, or plant part of claim 8 , further defined as a soybean plant part.

12 . The transgenic soybean plant, seed, or plant part of claim 8 , wherein said DNA molecule further comprises:
 (a) nucleotides 5376-5416 of SEQ ID NO:9; (b) nucleotides 5346-5416 of SEQ ID NO:9; (c) nucleotides 5396-5436 of SEQ ID NO:9; (d) nucleotides 5396-5416 of SEQ ID NO:9; (e) nucleotides 5396-5466 of SEQ ID NO:9; or (f) nucleotides 5346-5466 of SEQ ID NO:9.

13 . The transgenic soybean plant, seed, or plant part of claim 8 , wherein the DNA molecule is detectable using a pair of DNA primers, wherein the first DNA primer comprises at SEQ ID NO:5, SEQ ID NO:10, SEQ ID NO:18, or the complete complement of any thereof, and the second DNA primer comprises SEQ ID NO:8 or the complete complement thereof, and wherein said pair of DNA primers is useful in a DNA amplification method to produce an amplicon comprising SEQ ID NO:2.

14 . The transgenic soybean plant, seed, or plant part of claim 8 , wherein the DNA molecule is detectable using a DNA probe comprising a nucleotide sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:2 and SEQ ID NO:4.
