Cosmetic applicator with flexible fluid retaining portion

Abstract

A cosmetic package for applying a composition including a cosmetic, care or pharmaceutical composition onto the keratinous substrate comprises a receptacle and a cosmetic applicator. The cosmetic applicator further comprises an applicator head including a passage for delivering the composition to an application surface. The applicator head is connected with a pump mechanism for moving the composition from a container house in the package through the passage and onto an application surface. The applicator head includes an applying member which comprises a spatula with a first application face having a concave inner surface forming the application surface and a second application face having a convex outer surface. The second application face may include a textured surface.

         14 . An applicator for applying a cosmetic, the applicator comprising:
 a shaft having a longitudinal axis;   an applicator head connected with a distal end of the shaft and extending in a distal direction, wherein the applicator head comprises:
 a stiff root at a proximal end extending in the distal direction, the root having a tip and a curvilinear edge; and 
 a wing connected with the curvilinear edge and extending traverse to the longitudinal axis, the wing having a width transverse to the longitudinal axis, 
 wherein the wing comprises a concave inner surface, a convex outer surface, and a free edge opposite to the curvilinear edge, wherein the wing is formed from a flexible material. 
   
     
     
         15 . The applicator according to  claim 14 , wherein the wing is circular. 
     
     
         16 . The applicator according to  claim 15 , wherein the circular wing comprises a circular plate-shaped structure. 
     
     
         17 . The applicator according to  claim 16 , wherein the circular plate-shaped structure is curved in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. 
     
     
         18 . The applicator according to  claim 14  wherein the wing comprises at least two main application faces. 
     
     
         19 . The applicator according to  claim 18 , wherein at least one of the at least two main application faces is at least one of concave and convex. 
     
     
         20 . The applicator according to  claim 18 , wherein a first of the at least two main application faces is convex. 
     
     
         20 . The applicator according to  claim 20 , wherein a second of the at least two main application faces is concave. 
     
     
         21 . The applicator according to  claim 14 , wherein the root comprises two extensions.

         24 . An applicator for applying a cosmetic, the applicator comprising:
 a base having a longitudinal axis and at least one support extending in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis; and   a circular wing extending from a distal end of the base and at least partially supported by the at least one support, the circular wing having a width extending transverse to the longitudinal axis and beyond an outer diameter of the base.   
     
     
         25 . The applicator according to  claim 24 , wherein the circular wing comprises at least one of a convex inner surface and a concave outer surface. 
     
     
         26 . The applicator according to  claim 25 , wherein when the circular wing is drawn through an orifice with a diameter less than the width, the circular wing flexes so that the concave inner surface defines a reservoir 
     
     
         27 . The applicator according to  claim 24 , wherein the at least one support comprises a pair of parallel extensions. 
     
     
         28 . The applicator according to  claim 27 , wherein the pair of parallel extensions are at least one of different lengths and different shapes. 
     
     
         29 . The applicator according to  claim 27 , wherein the pair of parallel extensions are a same length. 
     
     
         30 . An applicator for applying a cosmetic, the applicator comprising:
 a base having a longitudinal axis and at least one support extending in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis; and   a circular wing extending from a distal end of the base and having a first region supported by the at least one support and a second region, wherein the first region provides bending resistance during cosmetic application and the second region flexes and adjusts to a contour of a surface to which the cosmetic is being applied.   
     
     
         31 . The applicator according to  claim 30 , wherein the circular wing comprises at least one of a convex inner surface and a concave outer surface. 
     
     
         32 . The applicator according to  claim 30 , wherein the at least one support comprises a pair of parallel extensions. 
     
     
         33 . The applicator according to  claim 32 , wherein the pair of parallel extensions are at least one of different lengths and different shapes.
