Abstract

Desensitizing oral care composition useful for treating dentinal hypersensitivity, comprising potassium oxalate and methods of use thereof. Delivery systems including a strip of material and such oral care compositions for the treatment of dentinalhypersensitivity and methods of use thereof.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A desensitizing oral care composition useful for treating dentinal hypersensitivity, comprising:
 a) from about 0.01% to about 25%, by weight of the composition, of a desensitizing agent selected from oxalic acid, salts of oxalic acid, and mixtures thereof; b) from about 0.1% to about 30%, by weight of the composition, of an adhesive polymer thickener; c) from about 0.01% to about 25%, by weight of the composition, of a supplementary desensitizing agent; and d) less than 0.1%, by weight of the composition, of abrasive,
wherein the composition has a pH of less than 10.

2 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises at least 40%, by weight of the composition, of water.

3 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises from about 1% to about 10%, by weight of the composition, of the desensitizing agent.

4 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises from about 1% to about 6%, by weight of the composition, of the desensitizing agent.

5 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises from about 0.5% to about 10% of the adhesive polymer.

6 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises from about 1% to about 40% of a humectant.

7 . The composition of claim 6 , wherein the humectant comprises a polyhydric alcohol.

8 . The composition of claim 7 , wherein the polyhydric alcohol is glycerin, sorbitol, xylitol, or combinations thereof.

9 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the desensitizing agent is selected from potassium oxalate salts and mixtures thereof.

10 . The composition of claim 9 , wherein the desensitizing agent is dipotassium oxalate.

11 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the adhesive-building polymer is selected from high molecular weight homo and co-polymers of acrylic acid crosslinked with a polyalkenyl polyether, and mixtures thereof.

12 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein the supplementary desensitizing agent is potassium salt, a stannous ion source, a strontium ion source, a zinc ion source, capsaicin, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, eugenol, a bioactive glass, an arginine compound, a fluoride ion source, a calcium ion source, or combinations thereof.

13 . The composition of claim 12 , wherein the potassium salt is potassium nitrate, potassium chloride, potassium citrate, or combinations thereof.

14 . The composition of claim 12 , wherein the stannous ion source is stannous fluoride, stannous chloride, or combinations thereof.

15 . The composition of claim 12 , wherein the arginine compound is sodium arginine or alginic acid.
