Abstract

A fluid management cassette configured for use with a control console includes a housing configured for insertion into a cassette bay of a control console lead by an insertion end of the housing, a peristaltic pump mounted on a front end of the housing opposite the insertion end thereof, and a drive shaft extending through the housing and rotatable relative thereto. The drive shaft is operably coupled to the peristaltic pump at a front end of the drive shaft and includes an insertion end configured to operably engage a drive rotor of the control console upon insertion of the housing into the cassette bay of the control console.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A fluid management cassette configured for use with a control console, the fluid management cassette comprising:
 a housing configured for insertion into a cassette bay of a control console lead by an insertion end of the housing; a peristaltic pump mounted on a front end of the housing opposite the insertion end thereof; and a drive shaft extending through the housing and rotatable relative thereto, the drive shaft operably coupled to the peristaltic pump at a front end of the drive shaft and including an insertion end configured to operably engage a drive rotor of the control console upon insertion of the housing into the cassette bay of the control console.

         2 . The fluid management cassette according to claim 1 , wherein the drive shaft is supported within the housing by at least one bearing.

         3 . The fluid management cassette according to claim 1 , wherein the drive shaft is supported within the housing via first and second spaced-apart bearings.

         4 . The fluid management cassette according to claim 1 , further comprising a wireless communication device disposed on or within the housing.

         5 . A fluid management system, comprising:
 a control console include a cassette bay, a motor, and a drive rotor operably coupled to the motor and extending at least partially into the cassette bay; and a cassette, including:
 a housing configured for insertion into the cassette bay of the control console lead by an insertion end of the housing;
 a peristaltic pump mounted on a front end of the housing opposite the insertion end thereof, the peristaltic pump configured to remain external of the control console; and
 a drive shaft extending through the housing and rotatable relative thereto, the drive shaft operably coupled to the peristaltic pump at a front end of the drive shaft and including an insertion end configured to operably engage the drive rotor of the control console upon insertion of the housing into the cassette bay of the control console.

         6 . The fluid management system according to claim 5 , wherein the drive shaft is supported within the housing by at least one bearing.

         7 . The fluid management system according to claim 5 , wherein the drive shaft is supported within the housing via first and second spaced-apart bearings.

         8 . The fluid management system according to claim 5 , wherein the housing of the cassette includes a wireless communication device disposed thereon or therein.

         9 . The fluid management system according to claim 8 , wherein the control console includes a wireless communication device disposed on or within the cassette bay and positioned to align with the wireless communication device of the cassette upon insertion of the cassette into the cassette bay.

         10 . The fluid management system according to claim 5 , wherein the control console further includes at least one of: a power port or an energy port.
