Abstract

Various methods and systems are provided for automatically generating downgrade recommendations. In one embodiment, a method for a patient downgrade recommendation system includes displaying a menu listing one or more options for retrieving data of one or more patients from a plurality of databases and systems of a hospital, the plurality of databases and systems including one or more electronic health record (EHR) systems, and displaying a recommendation graphical user interface (GUI) that displays, for each patient, a downgrade recommendation recommending whether or not to downgrade the patient, the downgrade recommendation being selectable to add additional display elements to the recommendation GUI display panel identifying parameters from the retrieved data from the one or more EHR systems that triggered a displayed downgrade recommendation, wherein the recommendation GUI is displayed while the one or more EHR systems are in an un-launched state.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method for a patient downgrade recommendation system, comprising:
displaying a menu listing one or more options for retrieving data of one or more patients from a plurality of databases and systems of a hospital, the plurality of databases and systems including one or more electronic health record (EHR) systems, and display a recommendation graphical user interface (GUI) that displays, for each patient, a downgrade recommendation recommending whether or not to downgrade the patient, the downgrade recommendation being selectable to add additional display elements to the recommendation GUI, the additional display elements identifying parameters from the retrieved data from the one or more EHR systems that triggered a displayed downgrade recommendation, wherein the recommendation GUI is displayed while the one or more EHR systems are in an un-launched state.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the downgrade recommendation is generated based on a set of rules applied to the retrieved data, the set of rules identifying a plurality of criteria to be met in order to downgrade the patient.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the set of rules are generated by a user, the rules being exclusionary rules for ruling out a downgrade, any one of which being met rules out the downgrade.

4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the identified parameters of the additional display elements comprise one or more causal criteria of the downgrade recommendation, the one or more causal criteria including one or more criteria of the plurality of criteria that triggered the downgrade recommendation.

5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the additional display elements include the identified parameters displayed in a first category and further include remaining criteria of the plurality of criteria displayed in a second category.

6 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the recommendation GUI includes, for a first patient, a downgrade element listing a causal criterion for the downgrade recommendation for the first patient, the causal criterion including a criterion of the plurality of criteria that triggered the downgrade recommendation.

7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the downgrade element is selectable to add a second additional display element to the recommendation GUI display panel, the second additional display element including information specific to the causal criterion obtained from the retrieved data from the one or more EHR systems.

8 . A method for a patient downgrade recommendation system, comprising:
displaying a menu listing one or more options for retrieving data of one or more patients from a plurality of databases and systems of a hospital, the plurality of databases and systems including one or more electronic health record (EHR) systems, and display a recommendation graphical user interface (GUI) that displays, for each patient, a downgrade recommendation recommending whether or not to downgrade the patient, the downgrade recommendation being selectable to launch a first display panel with additional information and/or controls relating to the associated downgrade recommendation, and the recommendation GUI further including a limited set of additional visual elements that are selectable to launch a second display panel, wherein the recommendation GUI is displayed while the one or more EHR systems are in an un-launched state.

9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the downgrade recommendation is generated based on a set of rules applied to the retrieved data, the set of rules identifying a plurality of criteria to be met in order to downgrade the patient.

10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein additional information relating to the associated downgrade recommendation includes one or more causal criteria of the downgrade recommendation, the one or more causal criteria including one or more criteria of the plurality of criteria that triggered the downgrade recommendation.

11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the first display panel includes the one or more causal criteria of the downgrade recommendation displayed in a first category and further include remaining criteria of the plurality of criteria displayed in a second category.

12 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the limited set of additional visual elements includes, for each of one or more patients, one or more causal criteria of the downgrade recommendation for that patient, the one or more causal criteria each including a criterion of the plurality of criteria that triggered the downgrade recommendation.

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the second display panel includes one or more values of a selected causal criterion, the one or values obtained from the retrieved data.

14 . A computing device comprising a display screen, the computing device being configured to display on the screen a menu listing one or more electronic health records (EHRs) of one or more patients, and additionally being configured to display on the screen a recommendation graphical user interface (GUI) that can be reached directly from the menu, wherein the recommendation GUI displays, for each patient, a downgrade recommendation and a limited list of criteria obtained from the one or more EHRs, each criterion in the limited list being selectable to launch a display panel with additional information relating to the associated downgrade recommendation and enable at least the selected criterion to be seen within display panel, and wherein the recommendation GUI is displayed while the one or more EHRs are in an un-launched state.

15 . The computing device of claim 14 , wherein the additional information relating to the associated downgrade recommendation displayed via the display panel includes one or more values of the criterion obtained from the one or more EHRs.

16 . The computing device of claim 15 , wherein the downgrade recommendation is generated based on a set of rules applied to data retrieved from the one or more EHRs, the set of rules identifying a plurality of criteria to be met in order to downgrade the patient.

17 . The computing device of claim 16 , wherein the set of rules are generated by a user, the rules being exclusionary rules for ruling out a downgrade, any one of which being met rules out the downgrade.

18 . The computing device of claim 17 , wherein the limited list of criteria includes one or more causal criteria of the downgrade recommendation, the one or more causal criteria including one or more criteria of the plurality of criteria that triggered the downgrade recommendation.

19 . The computing device of claim 16 , wherein the one or more patients are patients of a first type of hospital unit and the set of rules are selected based on the first type of hospital unit.

20 . The computing device of claim 14 , wherein the recommendation GUI may be shown in one of:
a first, condensed view showing a reduced set of information displayed in the recommendation GUI in a fixed format that is not customizable by a user; and a second, enhanced view showing a comprehensive set of information displayed in the recommendation GUI in a variable format that is customizable by the user; wherein the user may switch between the first, condensed view and the second, enhanced view via a control of the recommendation GUI.
