Abstract
Devices and methods for encapsulating a portion of a wound dressing with biocompatible coating are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method includes coating a first side of a flexible wound contact layer of the wound dressing with a hydrophobic coating. The first side of the wound contact layer can support a plurality of electronic components. The method can further include coating a second side of the wound contact layer opposite the first side with the hydrophobic coating. The wound contact layer can be formed at least partially from hydrophilic material.

62 . A wound dressing comprising:
a flexible wound contact layer formed at least partially from hydrophilic material, the wound contact layer having a first side supporting a plurality of electronic components; wherein the first side is coated with a hydrophobic coating, and a second side of the wound contact layer opposite the first side is coated with the hydrophobic coating.
63 . The wound dressing of claim 62 , wherein the hydrophobic coating encapsulates the wound contact layer.
64 . The wound dressing of claim 62 , wherein the hydrophobic coating is biocompatible.
65 . The wound dressing of claim 62 , wherein the hydrophobic coating is substantially stretchable.
66 . The wound dressing of claim 62 , wherein the plurality of electronic components comprises at least one electronic connection.
67 . The wound dressing of claim 62 , wherein at least some of the plurality of the electronic components are coated with multiple layers of coating.
68 . The wound dressing of claim 62 , wherein the hydrophobic coating is sprayed.
69 . The wound dressing of claim 62 , wherein the hydrophobic coating is formed from material compliant with IEC 60601 standard.
70 . A wound dressing comprising:
a flexible wound contact layer having a first side supporting a plurality of electronic components; wherein the first side is coated with a first biocompatible coating, and one or more remaining areas of the first side of the wound contact layer and a second side of the wound contact layer opposite the first side are coated with a second biocompatible coating.
71 . The wound dressing of claim 70 , wherein the first coating is substantially non-stretchable.
72 . The wound dressing of claim 70 , wherein the first biocompatible coating comprises at least one of Dymax 20351, Dymax 20558, Dymax 9001-E, or Loctite 3211.
73 . The wound dressing of claim 70 , wherein the wound contact layer is formed at least partially from hydrophilic material.
74 . The wound dressing of claim 70 , wherein the first biocompatible coating and the second biocompatible coating are hydrophobic.
75 . The wound dressing of claim 70 , wherein the first biocompatible coating and the second biocompatible coating are formed from material compliant with IEC 60601 standard.
76 . The wound dressing of claim 70 , wherein the first biocompatible coating has viscosity of no more than about 50,000 centipoise.
77 . A method for coating a wound dressing, the method comprising:
coating a plurality of electronic components supported by a first side of a flexible substrate of the wound dressing with a first biocompatible coating; and coating one or more remaining areas of the first side of the substrate and a second side of the substrate opposite the first side with a second biocompatible coating.
78 . The method of claim 78 , wherein the flexible substrate is a wound contact layer.
79 . The method of claim 78 , wherein the flexible substrate includes a plurality of perforations.
80 . The method of claim 78 , wherein the flexible substrate is formed at least partially from hydrophilic material.
