Abstract
A light-emitting device includes a substrate with a top surface; a first light-emitting structure unit and a second light-emitting structure unit separately formed on the top surface and adjacent to each other, and wherein the first light-emitting structure unit includes a first sidewall and the second light-emitting structure unit includes a second sidewall; an isolation layer formed on the first sidewall and the second sidewall, including a first edge on the first light-emitting structure unit and wherein the first edge has an acute angle in a cross-sectional view; and an electrical connection formed on the isolation layer, the first light-emitting structure unit and the second light-emitting structure unit, and electrically connecting the first light-emitting structure unit and the second light-emitting structure unit; wherein the first sidewall and the second sidewall are inclined; and wherein the electrical connection includes a first part on the first light-emitting structure unit, and the first part does not overlap the first edge of the isolation layer.

1 . A light-emitting device, comprising:
a substrate, comprising a top surface; a first light-emitting structure unit and a second light-emitting structure unit separately formed on the top surface and adjacent to each other, and wherein the first light-emitting structure unit comprises a first sidewall and the second light-emitting structure unit comprises a second sidewall; an isolation layer formed on the first sidewall and the second sidewall, comprising a first edge on the first light-emitting structure unit and wherein the first edge has an acute angle in a cross-sectional view; and an electrical connection, formed on the isolation layer, the first light-emitting structure unit and the second light-emitting structure unit, and electrically connecting the first light-emitting structure unit and the second light-emitting structure unit; wherein the first sidewall and the second sidewall are inclined; and wherein the electrical connection comprises a first part on the first light-emitting structure unit, and the first part does not overlap the first edge of the isolation layer.
2 . The light-emitting device of claim 1 , wherein the isolation layer further comprises a second edge on the second light-emitting structure unit and the second edge has an acute angle in a cross-sectional view; and the electrical connection further comprises a second part on the second light-emitting structure unit and the second part overlaps the second edge of the isolation layer.
3 . The light-emitting device of claim 2 , wherein each of the first light-emitting structure unit and the second light-emitting structure unit comprises a lower layer and an upper layer, and the second part of the electrical connection contacts the lower layer of the second light-emitting structure unit.
4 . The light-emitting device of claim 1 , further comprising a passivation layer covering the electrical connection, the first light-emitting structure unit and the second light-emitting structure unit.
5 . The light-emitting device of claim 1 , further comprising a current spreading layer formed on the first light-emitting structure unit and between the isolation layer and the electrical connection, and the current spreading layer covers the acute angle of the first edge of the isolation layer.
6 . The light-emitting device of claim 5 , further comprising a passivation layer covering the electrical connection, the first light-emitting structure unit and the second light-emitting structure unit; and wherein the current spreading layer comprises a top surface, and the top surface comprises a third part contacting the first part of the electrical connection and a fourth part contacting the passivation layer.
7 . The light-emitting device of claim 1 , wherein the electrical connection comprises a bridging portion and a joining portion extending from the bridging portion, and wherein the bridging portion is wider than the joining portion.
8 . The light-emitting device of claim 7 , wherein the first part comprises the joining portion.
9 . The light-emitting device of claim 7 , wherein the bridging portion has a width in a range of 5 µm to 50 µm and the joining portion has a width in a range of 3 µm to 15 µm.
10 . The light-emitting device of claim 1 , wherein the first sidewall and the second sidewall have a slope of 20 degrees to 80 degrees from bottom surfaces of the first light-emitting structure unit and the second light-emitting structure unit.
11 . The light-emitting device of claim 1 , wherein the first sidewall and the second sidewall face each other; and wherein the first light-emitting structure unit further comprises a third sidewall not facing the second light-emitting structure unit; and wherein the third sidewall is steeper than the first sidewall.
12 . The light-emitting device of claim 1 , wherein the first light-emitting structure unit comprises a lower layer and an upper layer, and wherein in a top view, the lower layer comprises a mesa area surrounding the upper layer.
13 . A light-emitting device, comprising:
a substrate, comprising a top surface; a first light-emitting structure unit and a second light-emitting structure unit separately formed on the top surface and spaced apart from each other, wherein each of the first light-emitting structure unit and the second light-emitting structure unit comprises a lower layer and an upper layer, and wherein in a top view, the lower layer of the second light-emitting structure unit comprises a mesa area surrounding the upper layer of the second light-emitting structure unit; and an electrical connection, formed on first light-emitting structure unit and the mesa area, and electrically connecting the first light-emitting structure unit and the second light-emitting structure unit; wherein the lower layer of the second light-emitting structure unit comprises a first sidewall and the upper layer of the second light-emitting structure unit comprises a second sidewall; and wherein the first sidewall and the second sidewall are inclined and have different slope from a bottom surface of the lower layer of the second structure light-emitting unit.
14 . The light-emitting device of claim 13 , wherein the electrical connection comprises a bridging portion and a joining portion extending from the bridging portion, wherein the bridging portion is wider than the joining portion; and wherein the bridging portion covers the mesa area and a top surface of the upper layer of the second structure light-emitting unit.
15 . The light-emitting device of claim 13 , wherein the mesa area connects the first sidewall and the second sidewall.
16 . The light-emitting device of claim 13 , further comprising a first isolation layer formed under the electrical connection and between the first light-emitting structure unit and the second light-emitting structure unit, wherein the first isolation layer contacts the first sidewall, the second sidewall and the mesa area.
