Abstract
Disclosed are processes, apparatuses, and systems for Direct Air Carbon Capture (DACC). An example process involves using a stream of exhaust air flowing from an air cooled heat exchanger to drive a DACC unit. Another example process involves conveying waste heat recovered from an industrial source to the DACC unit. The waste heat may be used to remove captured CO2 from a capture device of the DACC unit and/or for regeneration of the capture device.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A process comprising:
directing, into a direct air carbon capture (DACC) unit, a stream of exhaust air from an air cooled heat exchanger, wherein the DACC unit includes a capture device configured to capture carbon dioxide (CO2) from the exhaust air flowing through the DACC unit, wherein the capture device includes a solvent configured to selectively filter at least a portion of the CO2 from the exhaust air.
2 . The process of claim 1 , wherein the capture device includes one or more chemicals configured to selectively separate at least a portion of the CO2 from the exhaust air.
3 . The process of claim 2 , wherein the one or more chemicals include at least one of a liquid solvent.
4 . The process of claim 1 , further comprising:
conveying waste heat to the DACC unit; and removing, using the waste heat, the CO2 captured by the capture device.
5 . The process of claim 4 , wherein removing the CO2 captured by the capture device comprises regenerating the capture device.
6 . The process of claim 4 , further comprising recovering the waste heat from an industrial flue gas.
7 . The process of claim 1 , further comprising:
removing water from the stream of exhaust air flowing through the DACC unit to produce liquid water.
8 . A process comprising:
directing, into a direct air carbon capture (DACC) unit, a stream of exhaust air from an air cooled heat exchanger, wherein the DACC unit includes a capture device configured to capture carbon dioxide (CO2) from the exhaust air flowing through the DACC unit, wherein the capture device includes a solid sorbent configured to selectively filter at least a portion of the CO2 from the exhaust air.
9 . The process of claim 8 , further comprising:
conveying waste heat to the DACC unit; and removing, using the waste heat, the CO2 captured by the capture device.
10 . The process of claim 9 , wherein removing the CO2 captured by the capture device comprises regenerating the capture device.
11 . The process of claim 8 , further comprising recovering the waste heat from an industrial flue gas.
12 . The process of claim 8 , further comprising:
removing water from the stream of exhaust air flowing through the DACC unit to produce liquid water.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
