Nanoemulsion
Abstract
The present invention relates to a nanoemulsion comprising at least one aqueous component and a carrier, wherein the carrier comprises at least one lipophilic component, at least one surfactant and at least one alcohol. The present invention further relates to a composition comprising said nanoemulsion and an active agent. In particular, the composition is present as a gel and the active agent is 5-aminolevulinic acid, a derivative, precursor and/or metabolite thereof. The invention further relates to the preparation of said nanoemulsion and/or composition and to their use for the treatment of dermatological diseases, virus-associated diseases as well as diseases associated with cell proliferation, in particular, tumor diseases and/or psoriasis. The present invention is further directed to the use of said nanoemulsion in cosmetics.

64 . A method of treating a disease or disorder comprising administering to an individual in need a therapeutic amount of a nanoemulsion comprising:
a) at least one aqueous component and b) a carrier, which comprises i) at least one lipophilic component, ii) at least one surfactant and iii) at least one alcohol, wherein the at least one alcohol has at least three carbon atoms.
65 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the disease or disorder is a virus-associated disease comprising condylomata acuminata caused by a human papilloma virus (HPV).
66 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the disease or disorder is a dermatological disease or disorder selected from the group consisting of neurodermatitis, acne, keratosis, keratosis-associated disease, and actinic keratosis.
67 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the disease or disorder is associated with cell proliferation comprising tumor disease selected from the group consisting of basal cell adenoma, squamous cell carcinoma, Morbus Bowen, vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia (VIN), and a nodular and subcutaneous cancer disease.
68 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the disease or disorder is psoriasis.
69 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the disorder is aging.
70 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the carrier is present in the aqueous component.
71 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the lipophilic component is present in an amount of from 0.1% by weight to 15% by weight, the surfactant is present in an amount of from 1% by weight to 30% by weight, and the alcohol is present in an amount of from 0.1% by weight to 10% by weight, based on the total weight of the nanoemulsion.
72 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the aqueous component is present in an amount of from 50% by weight to 98% by weight, based on the total weight of the nanoemulsion.
73 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the at least one alcohol is isopropylalcohol or 1-propylalcohol.
74 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the at least one lipophilic component is triglyceride or a mixture thereof.
75 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the at least one surfactant is lecithin or a polyoxyethylene-type surfactant.
76 . The method of claim 75 , wherein the lecithin is soy lecithin and the polyoxyethylene-type surfactant is Polysorbate 80.
77 . The method of claim 76 , wherein the soy lecithin has a phosphatidylcholine content of at least 80% by weight.
78 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the mean diameter of the emulsified particles ranges from 5 nm and 500 nm.
79 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the mean diameter of the emulsified particles is less than 100 nm.
80 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the mean diameter of the emulsified particles ranges from 10 to 50 nm.
81 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the nanoemulsion comprises a surfactant and a co-surfactant.
82 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the nanoemulsion comprises a buffer.
