Rotary Pump Conversion Unit for a Drywall Pump

Abstract

A rotary pump conversion unit for a drywall pump is provided. The rotary pump conversion unit may allow a rotating drive shaft to convert momentum into vertical movement of a driven shaft. The driven shaft may be used to pump drywall mud into a drywall mud applicator. A major benefit of the present device is that the present rotary pump conversion unit for a drywall pump, taper, flat finisher, corner unit, etc. may be used in connection with a motorized drill as opposed to having to manually pump the device.

I claim: 
     
         1 . A rotary conversion unit for a drywall pump comprising:
 a drive shaft connected to a driven shaft;   a top support unit on the driven shaft;   a bottom support unit on the driven shaft;   wherein the top support unit is located above the bottom support unit on the driven shaft and wherein a distance separates the top support unit from the bottom support unit;   a spiral groove on the driven shaft wherein the spiral groove is located between the top support unit and the bottom support unit;   a follower screw secured within the bottom unit wherein an end of the follower screw is partially located within the spiral groove;   wherein the rotation of the drive shaft rotates the driven shaft three hundred and sixty degrees and therein moves the follower screw up and down; and   wherein the rotation of the drive shaft converts the rotational movement of the drive shaft into an up and down vertical movement of the bottom support unit.   
     
     
         2 . The rotary conversion unit for a drywall pump of  claim 1  wherein the follower screw is magnetic. 
     
     
         3 . The rotary conversion unit for a drywall pump of  claim 1  further comprising:
 a removable collar located within the bottom support unit; and 
 wherein the follower screw completely passes through the removable collar. 
 
     
     
         4 . The rotary conversion unit for a drywall pump of  claim 1  wherein the top support unit and the bottom support unit are cylindrical. 
     
     
         5 . The rotary conversion unit for a drywall pump of  claim 3  further comprising:
 a first extended ridge on the removable collar; and 
 a second extended ridge on the removable collar. 
 
     
     
         6 . The rotary conversion unit for a drywall pump of  claim 5  wherein the follower screw passes through the first extended ridge or the second extended ridge of the removable collar. 
     
     
         7 . The rotary conversion unit for a drywall pump of  claim 5  wherein the first extended ridge and the second extended ridge are on opposition locations on the removable collar.
