Adaptive remote control
Abstract
A remote control that receives state information from an associated media device is disclosed. The remote control, in response to receiving data indicating that the media device is in a content state, may update an input assembly to indicate that the assembly may be used to perform a movement function. The remote control may instruct the media device to perform a movement function in response to a selection gesture, where the degree of movement is a single unit. In response to a swipe gesture, the remote control may instruct the media device to perform a linear movement with a greater degree of movement. Buttons and functions of the remote control may be further adapted in response to a menu-based state, or other states of the media device.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method comprising:
determining, based on a detected user input, information indicating a gesture; determining, based on the gesture, a user profile; determining, based on the user profile, a graphical user interface; and causing display of the graphical user interface.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the gesture is performed in an orientation associated with the user profile.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the gesture comprises a swipe gesture associated with the user profile.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining, based on the gesture, the user profile comprises:
determining that the gesture is performed in a first orientation, of a plurality of orientations, on an icon; and determining, based on the gesture being performed in the first orientation on the icon, the user profile.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprises:
determining, based on a second detected user input, information indicating a second gesture; determining, based on the second gesture, a second user profile.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the second gesture is performed in an orientation associated with the second user profile.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the gesture comprises at least one of: a swipe gesture, a selection gesture, or a J-shaped gesture.
8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the swipe gesture causes a greater degree of movement through content on the media device than the selection gesture or the J-shaped gesture.
9 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing computer-readable instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause:
determining, based on a detected user input, information indicating a gesture; determining, based on the gesture, a user profile; determining, based on the user profile, a graphical user interface; and causing display of the graphical user interface.
10 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the gesture is performed in an orientation associated with the user profile.
11 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the gesture comprises a swipe gesture associated with the user profile.
12 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the determining, based on the gesture, the user profile comprises:
determining that the gesture is performed in a first orientation, of a plurality of orientations, on an icon; and determining, based on the gesture being performed in the first orientation on the icon, the user profile.
13 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the gesture comprises at least one of: a swipe gesture, a selection gesture, or a J-shaped gesture.
14 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the swipe gesture causes a greater degree of movement through content on the media device than the selection gesture or the J-shaped gesture.
15 . A device comprising:
one or more processors; and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the device to:
determine, based on a detected user input, information indicating a gesture;
determine, based on the gesture, a user profile;
determine, based on the user profile, a graphical user interface; and
cause display of the graphical user interface.
16 . The device of claim 15 , wherein the gesture is performed in an orientation associated with the user profile.
17 . The device of claim 15 , wherein the gesture comprises a swipe gesture associated with the user profile.
18 . The device of claim 15 , wherein the determining, based on the gesture, the user profile comprises:
determining that the gesture is performed in a first orientation, of a plurality of orientations, on an icon; and determining, based on the gesture being performed in the first orientation on the icon, the user profile.
19 . The device of claim 15 , wherein the gesture comprises at least one of: a swipe gesture, a selection gesture, or a J-shaped gesture.
20 . The device of claim 19 , wherein the swipe gesture causes a greater degree of movement through content on the media device than the selection gesture or the J-shaped gesture.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
