Locking storage box with quick-access features

Abstract

A storage box having a locking assembly with quick-access features and an optional passthrough charging port is shown and described.

         16 . An enclosure, the enclosure comprising:
 a main body;   a lid;   a locking assembly that is releasably engageable between the main body and the lid, the locking assembly having a locked configuration in which the lid and the main body are secured together and an unlocked configuration in which the lid is separable from the main body, the main body and the lid forming a storage compartment therebetween when the main body and the lid are mated together; and   an electrical passthrough that extends from an exterior of the enclosure into the storage compartment, the electrical passthrough comprising a charging and/or data port.   
     
     
         17 . The enclosure of  claim 16 , further comprising a gasket located between and in contact with both of the main body and the lid when the main body and the lid are mated together, the gasket surrounding a perimeter of the storage compartment and rendering the storage compartment liquidproof. 
     
     
         18 . The enclosure of  claim 17 , the storage compartment further comprising a liquid-impermeable but gas-permeable sealing vent provided therethrough between the storage compartment and the exterior of the enclosure. 
     
     
         19 . The enclosure of  claim 16 , further comprising at least one light located within the storage compartment. 
     
     
         20 . The enclosure of  claim 16 , further comprising at least one locking hole that extends through each of the main body and the lid, the at least one locking hole being adapted to receive a secondary lock therethrough. 
     
     
         21 . The enclosure of  claim 16 , further comprising a wireless charger located inside the enclosure. 
     
     
         22 . The enclosure of  claim 16 , wherein the charging and/or data port is a first port arranged on the exterior of the enclosure, and
 wherein the electrical passthrough further comprises a second port located within the storage compartment, the second port being in electrical communication with the first port.   
     
     
         23 . The enclosure of  claim 22 , further comprising a housing coupled to an interior surface of the storage compartment,
 wherein the housing includes the second port.   
     
     
         24 . The enclosure of  claim 22 , wherein the first port and the second port are configured as charging ports. 
     
     
         25 . The enclosure of  claim 22 , wherein the first port includes a first USB port and the second port includes a second USB port in electrical communication with the first USB port. 
     
     
         26 . The enclosure of  claim 22 , wherein the first port is arranged on an exterior sidewall of the main body and the second port is arranged within a housing coupled to an interior surface of the main body within the storage compartment. 
     
     
         27 . A storage box, comprising:
 a bottom lid forming a storage compartment, the storage compartment being adapted to store one or more items therein;   a top lid hingedly coupled to the bottom lid and configured to move between a closed configuration and an open configuration to provide access to the storage compartment;   a locking assembly coupled between the bottom lid and the top lid and configured to permit for selective securing of the top lid to the bottom lid in the closed configuration; and   an electrical passthrough that extends from an exterior of the storage box into the storage compartment, the electrical passthrough including:
 a first port arranged on the exterior of the storage box, and 
 a second port located within the storage compartment, the second port being in electrical communication with the first port such that the stored items in the storage compartment are chargeable via the electrical passthrough. 
   
     
     
         28 . The storage box of  claim 27 , wherein the first port includes a first male or female USB port and the second port includes a second male or female USB port in electrical communication with the first port. 
     
     
         29 . The storage box of  claim 27 , wherein the first port is arranged on an exterior sidewall of the bottom lid and the second port is arranged within a housing coupled to an interior surface of the bottom lid within the storage compartment. 
     
     
         30 . The storage box of  claim 27 , wherein the storage compartment is sized to receive a firearm. 
     
     
         31 . A storage box, comprising:
 a bottom lid forming a storage compartment, the storage compartment being adapted to store one or more items therein;   a top lid hingedly coupled to the bottom lid and configured to move between a closed configuration and an open configuration to provide access to the storage compartment;   a housing coupled to an interior surface of the storage compartment; and   an electrical passthrough that extends from an exterior of the storage box into the storage compartment, the electrical passthrough including:
 a first charging port arranged on the exterior of the storage box, and 
 a second charging port located within the housing, the second port being in electrical communication with the first port such that, when items are stored in the storage compartment, the items are chargeable via the electrical passthrough. 
   
     
     
         32 . The storage box of  claim 31 , wherein the first charging port and the second charging port are configured as USB ports. 
     
     
         33 . The storage box of  claim 31 , wherein the first charging port is arranged on an exterior sidewall of the bottom lid.
