Electrolysis Device
Abstract
An electrolysis device for the electrolytic treatment of liquids has an anode chamber and a cathode chamber which are separated from one another via an ion exchange membrane. The chambers are provided with an inlet opening and an outlet opening for the flowing electrolyte, each with one electrode. The inner space of the anode chamber and/or of the cathode chamber are/is subdivided by webs or ribs extending transversely with respect to the electrodes. The webs or ribs are provided at least regionally with holes or cut outs. The webs or ribs include at least one lower region free of holes or cut outs. The electrolysis device provides sufficient mixing in the upper foam phase in the longitudinal direction and also at the same time the airlift pump effect is maintained by way of ascending gas bubbles in the lower region.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . An electrolysis device for the electrolytic treatment of liquids, comprising:
an anode chamber; a cathode chamber; an ion exchange membrane separating the anode chamber from the cathode chamber; and at least one web situated in the anode chamber or the cathode chamber, the at least one web comprising a plurality of holes extending partially along a height of the at least one web.
2 . The electrolysis device of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of holes is situated in an upper region of the at least one web.
3 . The electrolysis device of claim 2 , wherein the upper region extends at least approximately over an upper quarter of the height of the at least one web.
4 . The electrolysis device of claim 1 , wherein the upper region extends at least approximately over an upper third of the height of the at least one web.
5 . The electrolysis device of claim 2 , wherein each of the plurality of holes is spaced apart in the height direction of the at least one web.
6 . The electrolysis device of claim 5 , wherein a first spacing between a first hole of the plurality of holes and a second hole of the plurality of holes is different than a second spacing between the second hole and a third hole of the plurality of holes.
7 . The electrolysis device of claim 6 , wherein the first spacing is smaller than the second spacing.
8 . The electrolysis device of claim 5 , the spacing between the respective holes of the plurality of holes varies along the height of the at least one web.
9 . The electrolysis device of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of holes has an approximately circular contour.
10 . The electrolysis device of claim 1 , wherein a free cross-section of at least one hole of the plurality of holes is approximately 10 mm 2 .
11 . The electrolysis device of claim 1 , wherein a free cross-section of at least one hole of the holes is approximately 15 mm 2 .
12 . The electrolysis device of claim 1 , wherein the at least one web comprises two webs, a first web of the two webs being situated in the anode chamber and a second of the two webs being situated in the cathode chamber.
13 . A web for an electrolysis device, comprising:
an upper region; a lower region terminating in a lower end region; and a plurality of holes formed into the upper region, each of the plurality of holes being spaced apart from another of the plurality of holes, wherein the spacing between the respective holes varies along the upper region in a vertical direction.
14 . The web of claim 13 , wherein the lower end region is bevelled.
15 . The web of claim 13 , wherein the upper region extends approximately over an upper quarter of the height of the web.
16 . The web of claim 13 , wherein the upper region extends approximately over an upper third of the heigh of the web.
17 . The web of claim 13 , wherein:
the upper region comprises a first upper region and a second upper region, the plurality of holes being formed into both the first upper region and the second upper region; the spacing between respective holes in the first upper region is smaller than the spacing between respective holes in the second upper region.
18 . An electrolysis device for the electrolytic treatment of liquids, comprising:
an anode chamber; a cathode chamber; an ion exchange membrane separating the anode chamber from the cathode chamber; at least one web situated in the anode chamber, the at least one web comprising a plurality of holes extending partially along a height of the at least one web; and at least one web situated in the cathode chamber, the at least one web comprising a plurality of holes extending partially along a height of the at least one web.
19 . The electrolysis device of claim 18 , wherein, for each web, each of the plurality of holes is spaced apart from another of the plurality of holes, wherein the spacing between the respective holes varies in a vertical direction.
20 . The electrolysis device of claim 19 , wherein, for each web, the spacing between two lower holes of the plurality of holes is smaller than a spacing between two higher holes of the plurality of holes.Cited by (0)
