Abstract

The present disclosure provides isolated Bacillus strains, as well as compositions comprising one or more of the isolated strains and methods of using the isolated strains and compositions to enhance crop growth/yield.

A method, comprising introducing the isolated  Bacillus megaterium  strain having the deposit accession number NRRL B-67352 ( B. megaterium  NRRL B-67352), the isolated  Bacillus megaterium  strain having the deposit accession number NRRL B-67357 ( B. megaterium  NRRL B-67357), the isolated  Bacillus megaterium  strain having the deposit accession number NRRL B-67521 ( B. megaterium  NRRL B-67521), the isolated  Bacillus megaterium  strain having the deposit accession number NRRL B-67522 ( B. megaterium  NRRL B-67522), the isolated  Bacillus megaterium  strain having the deposit accession number NRRL B-67533 ( B. megaterium  NRRL B-67533), the isolated  Bacillus megaterium  strain having the deposit accession number NRRL B-67534 ( B. megaterium  NRRL B-67534), the isolated  Bacillus megaterium  strain having the deposit accession number NRRL B-67525 ( B. megaterium  NRRL B-67525), the isolated  Bacillus megaterium  strain having the deposit accession number NRRL B-67526 ( B. megaterium  NRRL B-67526), the isolated  Bacillus megaterium  strain having the deposit accession number NRRL B-67527 ( B. megaterium  NRRL B-67527), the isolated  Bacillus megaterium  strain having the deposit accession number NRRL B-67528 ( B. megaterium  NRRL B-67528), the isolated  Bacillus megaterium  strain having the deposit accession number NRRL B-67529 ( B. megaterium  NRRL B-67529) and/or the isolated  Bacillus megaterium  strain having the deposit accession number NRRL B-67530 ( B. megaterium  NRRL B-67530) into a plant growth medium in an amount/concentration sufficient to enhance
 (a) nutrient uptake and/or accumulation,   (b) growth, and/or   (c) yield   
       of a plant grown in said plant growth medium, as compared to a corresponding control plant grown in a corresponding control plant growth medium to which said  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67352,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67357,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67521,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67522,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67533,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67534,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67525,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67526,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67527,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67528,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67529 and/or  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67530 was/were not introduced. 
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67352,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67357,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67521,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67522,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67533,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67534,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67525,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67526,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67527,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67528,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67529 and/or  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67530 is/are introduced into said plant growth medium in an amount/concentration sufficient to enhance the calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium and/or sulfur uptake of said plant.

The method of  claim 1 , wherein said  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67352,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67357,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67521,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67522,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67533,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67534,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67525,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67526,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67527,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67528,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67529 and/or  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67530 is/are introduced into said plant growth medium in an amount/concentration sufficient to enhance the calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium and/or sulfur accumulation of said plant.

The method of  claim 1 , wherein said  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67352,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67357,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67521,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67522,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67533,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67534,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67525,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67526,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67527,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67528,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67529 and/or  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67530 is/are introduced into said plant growth medium in an amount/concentration sufficient to enhance the calcium uptake and/or accumulation of said plant.

The method of  claim 1 , wherein said  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67352,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67357,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67521,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67522,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67533,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67534,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67525,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67526,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67527,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67528,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67529 and/or  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67530 is/are introduced into said plant growth medium in an amount/concentration sufficient to enhance iron uptake and/or accumulation of said plant.

The method of  claim 1 , wherein said  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67352,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67357,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67521,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67522,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67533,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67534,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67525,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67526,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67527,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67528,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67529 and/or  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67530 is/are introduced into said plant growth medium in an amount/concentration sufficient to enhance magnesium uptake and/or accumulation of said plant.

The method of  claim 1 , wherein said  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67352,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67357,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67521,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67522,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67533,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67534,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67525,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67526,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67527,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67528,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67529 and/or  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67530 is/are introduced into said plant growth medium in an amount/concentration sufficient to enhance manganese uptake and/or accumulation of said plant.

The method of  claim 1 , wherein said  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67352,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67357,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67521,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67522,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67533,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67534,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67525,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67526,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67527,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67528,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67529 and/or  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67530 is/are introduced into said plant growth medium in an amount/concentration sufficient to enhance nitrogen uptake and/or accumulation of said plant.

The method of  claim 1 , wherein said  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67352,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67357,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67521,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67522,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67533,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67534,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67525,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67526,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67527,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67528,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67529 and/or  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67530 is/are introduced into said plant growth medium in an amount/concentration sufficient to enhance phosphorous uptake and/or accumulation of said plant.

The method of  claim 1 , wherein said  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67352,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67357,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67521,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67522,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67533,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67534,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67525,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67526,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67527,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67528,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67529 and/or  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67530 is/are introduced into said plant growth medium in an amount/concentration sufficient to enhance potassium uptake and/or accumulation of said plant.

The method of  claim 1 , wherein said  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67352,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67357,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67521,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67522,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67533,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67534,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67525,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67526,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67527,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67528,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67529 and/or  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67530 is/are introduced into said plant growth medium in an amount sufficient to enhance sulfur uptake and/or accumulation of said plant.

The method of  claim 1 , wherein said  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67352,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67357,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67521,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67522,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67533,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67534,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67525,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67526,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67527,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67528,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67529 and/or  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67530 is/are introduced into said plant growth medium in an amount sufficient to enhance the growth of said plant

The method of  claim 1 , wherein said  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67352,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67357,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67521,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67522,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67533,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67534,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67525,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67526,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67527,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67528,  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67529 and/or  B. megaterium  NRRL B-67530 is/are introduced into said plant growth medium in an amount/concentration sufficient to enhance the yield of said plant. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said plant is a cereal plant. 
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said plant is a corn plant. 
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said plant is a wheat plant. 
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said plant is a leguminous plant. 
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said plant is a soybean plant. 
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said plant is a grass plant.
