Seed firmer

Abstract

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a seed firmer having a resilient portion and a firming portion that are molded together into a unitary part with each portion being a different material.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A seed firmer comprising:
 a resilient portion for attaching to an agricultural implement;   a firming portion for contacting seeds, and   a layer disposed over at least one of the firming portion and the resilient portion.   
     
     
         2 . The seed firmer of  claim 1 , wherein the layer is adhered to at least one of the firming portion and the resilient portion with an adhesive. 
     
     
         3 . The seed firmer of  claim 1 , wherein the layer is made from ultra high molecular weight polyethylene. 
     
     
         4 . The seed firmer of  claim 3 , wherein the seed firmer is made from PA6 nylon. 
     
     
         5 . The seed firmer of  claim 1 , wherein the layer is disposed over the resilient portion and the firming portion. 
     
     
         6 . The seed firmer of  claim 5 , wherein a first layer is disposed over the resilient portion and a second layer is disposed over the firming portion. 
     
     
         7 . The seed firmer of  claim 1 , wherein the resilient portion has a first portion and a second portion, and the second portion of the reliant portion is inside the firming portion. 
     
     
         8 . The seed firmer of  claim 7 , wherein the layer is disposed over the firming portion and the resilient portion. 
     
     
         9 . The seed firmer of  claim 1 , wherein the firming portion is disposed at 30 to 70% of the length of the seed firmer. 
     
     
         10 . The seed firmer of  claim 1 , wherein the firming portion is disposed at 40 to 60% of the length of the seed firmer. 
     
     
         11 . The seed firmer of  claim 1 , wherein the firming portion is disposed at 45 to 55% of the length of the seed firmer. 
     
     
         12 . The seed firmer of  claim 1 , wherein the firming portion is disposed at 50% of the length of the seed firmer. 
     
     
         13 . The seed firmer of  claim 1 , wherein the seed firmer further comprises a channel. 
     
     
         14 . The seed firmer of  claim 1 , wherein the resilient portion further comprises at least one post. 
     
     
         15 . The seed firmer of  claim 1 , wherein the resilient portion further comprises a bracket. 
     
     
         16 . A seed firmer comprising:
 a resilient portion for attaching to an agricultural implement, wherein the resilient portion has a first portion and a second portion, wherein the second portion of the resilient portion is inside the firming portion;   a firming portion for contacting seeds; and   a layer disposed over the firming portion and the resilient portion, wherein the layer is made from ultra high molecular weight polyethylene.
