Electric bicycle

Abstract

A bicycle includes a frame, a cover, a door, a first key interface, and a second key interface. The frame defines a cavity, a first opening providing access to the cavity, an interior compartment, and a second opening providing access to the interior compartment. The cover extends across the first opening. The door extends across the second opening. The first key interface is positioned along the frame proximate the first opening. Turning a key in the first key interface releases at least a portion of the cover from the frame. The second key interface is positioned along the frame proximate the second opening. Turning a key in the second key interface releases at least a portion of the door from the frame.

1 . A bicycle comprising:
 a frame defining a cavity, a first opening providing access to the cavity, an interior compartment, and a second opening providing access to the interior compartment;   a cover extending across the first opening;   a door extending across the second opening;   a first key interface positioned along the frame proximate the first opening, wherein turning a key in the first key interface releases at least a portion of the cover from the frame; and   a second key interface positioned along the frame proximate the second opening, wherein turning a key in the second key interface releases at least a portion of the door from the frame.   
     
     
         2 . The bicycle of  claim 1 , wherein a portion of the frame has a curved profile, and wherein the cover has an exterior surface profile with a first portion and a second portion angled relative to the first portion such that the exterior surface profile of the cover substantially matches the curved profile of the portion of the frame. 
     
     
         3 . The bicycle of  claim 1 , wherein a portion of the frame has a curved profile, and wherein the cover extends linearly at an angle across the curved profile such that an exterior surface profile of the cover does not match the curved profile of the portion of the frame. 
     
     
         4 . The bicycle of  claim 1 , further comprising a battery extending at least partially into the cavity, wherein the cover is a top portion of the battery. 
     
     
         5 . The bicycle of  claim 4 , further comprising a motor supported by the frame, wherein the motor is positioned directly underneath at least a portion of the battery. 
     
     
         6 . The bicycle of  claim 1 , wherein the cover is not pivotably coupled to the frame, and wherein the door is pivotably coupled to the frame. 
     
     
         7 . The bicycle of  claim 6 , further comprising a hinge positioned within the interior compartment proximate an end of the second opening, wherein the door includes (a) a u-shaped arm extending from a first end of the door into the interior compartment and pivotably coupled to the hinge and (b) a retainer extending from an opposing second end of the door into the interior compartment. 
     
     
         8 . The bicycle of  claim 1 , further comprising a receptacle disposed within the interior compartment and positioned beneath the second opening, wherein the receptacle, the door, and the interior compartment cooperatively define a storage compartment. 
     
     
         9 . The bicycle of  claim 8 , wherein the receptacle is longer than the door such that the receptacle extends within the frame beyond the second opening. 
     
     
         10 . The bicycle of  claim 8 , further comprising a bracket positioned beneath the second opening and coupled to an interior wall of the frame, wherein the receptacle is releasably coupled to the bracket. 
     
     
         11 . The bicycle of  claim 1 , wherein the frame includes a head tube, a down tube extending from the head tube at a downward angle, a central portion extending substantially horizontally from an end of the down tube opposite the head tube, and chain stays extending from the central portion, wherein an upper surface of the down tube defines the second opening, and wherein the central portion defines at least a portion of the first opening. 
     
     
         12 . The bicycle of  claim 11 , wherein the central portion and the down tube cooperatively define the first opening. 
     
     
         13 . The bicycle of  claim 1 , further comprising at least one of:
 (a) taillights integrated into chain stays of the frame, the taillights positioned along a rear surface and a side surface of the chain stays; or   (b) a conspicuity lamp coupled a head tube of the frame and a headlight coupled to at least one of a stem of the frame or handlebars coupled to the stem such that a direction of illumination of the headlight is variable relative to the conspicuity lamp.   
     
     
         14 . A bicycle comprising:
 a frame including a plurality of tubes, an upper surface of one of the plurality of tubes defining an opening; and   a storage compartment including:
 a door pivotably coupled to the one of the plurality of tubes and positioned to selectively enclose the opening; and 
 a receptacle disposed within an interior of the one of the plurality of tubes and positioned beneath the opening. 
   
     
     
         15 . The bicycle of  claim 14 , further comprising a hinge positioned within the one of the plurality of tubes proximate an end of the opening, wherein the door includes (a) a u-shaped arm extending from a first end of the door into the one of the plurality of tubes and pivotably coupled to the hinge and (b) a retainer extending from an opposing second end of the door. 
     
     
         16 . The bicycle of  claim 15 , further comprising a key interface positioned along the frame proximate the opening, wherein turning a key in the key interface releases the retainer of the door from the frame. 
     
     
         17 . The bicycle of  claim 14 , wherein the receptacle is longer than the opening such that the receptacle extends within the frame beyond the opening. 
     
     
         18 . The bicycle of  claim 14 , further comprising a bracket positioned beneath the opening and coupled to an interior wall of the one of the plurality of tubes, wherein the receptacle is releasably coupled to the bracket. 
     
     
         19 . A bicycle comprising:
 a head tube;   a stem pivotably coupled to the head tube;   handlebars coupled to the stem;   chain stays;   taillights coupled to the chain stays, the taillights positioned along a rear surface and a side surface of the chain stays;   a conspicuity lamp coupled to the head tube; and   a headlight coupled to at least one of the stem or the handlebars such that a direction of illumination of the headlight is variable relative to the conspicuity lamp.   
     
     
         20 . The bicycle of  claim 19 , further comprising:
 a down tube coupled to the head tube, an upper surface of the down tube defining a first opening;   a door extending across the first opening;   a central portion coupled to an end of the down tube opposite the head tube, the central portion and the down tube cooperatively defining a second opening; and   a cover extending across the second opening.
