Device for projecting far ultraviolet
Abstract
A device for increased ultraviolet exposure of fluids. The device includes at least one photonic source for generating and emitting photonic energy in a wavelength or in a range of wavelengths of visible light. The device also includes a lens formed of a fluoropolymer material wherein the at least one photonic source is sealed within an interior and underneath an outer surface of the fluoropolymer material so as to be surrounded by the fluoropolymer material. The at least one photonic source is coupled with the lens such that the photonic energy emitting from the at least one photonic source transmits through and projects beyond the fluoropolymer material.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A disinfection system, comprising:
an ultraviolet (UV) light emitting source for generating photonic energy in a wavelength range between 200 nm to 230 nm; a UV transmissive lens at least partially surrounds the UV light emitting source, the UV lens comprised of a polymer plastic having negligible degradation when exposed to the photonic energy; and the combination of the UV light emitting source and the UV transmissive lens enables the photonic energy to emit from UV light emitter and transmit through the UV transmissive lens to project to an exterior area beyond an exterior surface of the lens to produce a disinfecting effect upon the exterior area.
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the combination of the UV light emitting source and the UV transmissible lens enables the UV light emitter to transmit through the UV transmissive lens up to a distance of 18 feet to produce a disinfecting effect.
3 . The ultraviolet transmissive lens of claim 1 , wherein the lens is comprised of a fluoropolymer.
4 . The lens of claim 3 , further comprising a film layer having a thickness up to ⅛ inches in thickness.
5 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the lens surrounds the UV light emitting source such that all high voltages required to operate the UV emitter are electrically isolated from external contact.
6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the UV light emitting source projects UV light in a range between 20 degrees to 150 degrees.
7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the UV light emitting device is a bulb.
8 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the fluoropolymer material comprises fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP).Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
