Building management system with space and place utilization
Abstract
A system that serves a space includes one or more data sources that provide utilization data describing an actual utilization of the space and circuitry configured to calculate a utilization attribute of the space based on the utilization data and retrieve, from a space profile for the space, a utilization target corresponding to the utilization attribute. The space profile is selected from a plurality of selectable space profiles defining a plurality of target utilizations. The circuitry is also configured to generate a normalized utilization metric for the space by normalizing the utilization attribute relative to the utilization target and generate a recommendation for the space based on the normalized utilization metric.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A system that serves a space, the system comprising:
circuitry configured to:
detect a new event;
determine a new mode for utilization of the space based upon the new event;
determine new settings for the space based on the new mode and
operate the system using the new settings.
2 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising:
providing a recommendation for the space based on a normalized utilization metric, wherein the circuitry is further configured to provide the recommendation by causing the recommendation to be displayed by a display device.
3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the recommendation comprises the new setting comprising a schedule for the space.
4 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the schedule comprises a cleaning schedule, a maintenance schedule, or a restocking schedule.
5 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the recommendation comprises a plan for a reconfiguration of the space.
6 . The system of claim 2 , wherein utilization data describes an amount of the space occupied by one or more people in the space and is used to provide the normalized utilization metric.
7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the circuitry is further configured to:
replace a first space profile for the space with a second space profile from a plurality of selectable space profiles; retrieve a second utilization target from the second space profile; and generate an updated normalized utilization metric for the space by normalizing a first utilization attribute relative to the second utilization target.
8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more data sources comprise a sensor or system that provides an indication of a use of equipment, devices, or other things within the space.
9 . A method for managing a space, comprising:
obtaining utilization data indicative of an actual utilization of the space; calculating a utilization attribute for the space based on the utilization data; retrieving, from a space profile for the space, a utilization target corresponding to the utilization attribute, wherein the space profile is selected from a plurality of selectable space profiles defining a plurality of target utilizations; and providing a recommendation for the space based on the utilization data.
10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein providing the recommendation comprises displaying the recommendation at a display device.
11 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the recommendation comprises a schedule for the space.
12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the schedule comprises a cleaning schedule, a maintenance schedule, or a restocking schedule.
13 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the recommendation comprises a plan for reconfiguring the space.
14 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the utilization data describes an amount of the space occupied by one or more people in the space.
15 . One or more non-transitory computer readable media containing program instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
detecting a new event; determining a new mode for utilization of a space based upon the new event; and providing recommendation of new settings for the space based on the new mode.
16 . The non-transitory computer readable media of claim 15 , wherein the recommendation comprises a schedule for the space.
17 . The non-transitory computer readable media of claim 16 , wherein the schedule comprises a cleaning schedule, a maintenance schedule, or a restocking schedule.
18 . The non-transitory computer readable media of claim 15 , wherein the recommendation comprises a plan for reconfiguring the space.
19 . The non-transitory computer readable media of claim 15 , wherein the one or more operations comprise receiving utilization data, wherein the utilization data describes an amount of the space occupied by one or more people in the space, and is used to make the recommendation.
20 . The non-transitory computer readable media of claim 15 , wherein the operations further comprise generating a graphical user interface comprising the recommendation and causing a display device to display the graphical user interface.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
