The invention relates to compositions and methods for treating ophthalmic conditions.

         117 . A method of treating dry eye disease in a patient in need thereof, the method comprising topically administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of formula III or formula IV:

         118 . The method of  claim 117 , wherein the patient is a human patient. 
     
     
         119 . The method of  claim 117 , wherein the method comprises administering a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of formula III, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 
     
     
         120 . The method of  claim 117 , wherein the method comprises administering a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of formula IV, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

The method of  claim 117 , wherein the dry eye disease is associated with ocular inflammation and/or pain associated with ocular surgery; with uveitis or conjunctivitis; with cystoid macular edema or diabetic retinopathy; with pterygium; or with mechanical trauma or chemical injury to the eye. 
     
     
         122 . The method of  claim 117 , wherein the method cures, ameliorates, stabilizes, and/or controls a symptom of dry eye disease. 
     
     
         123 . The method of  claim 117 , wherein the compound is administered to the patient in an eye drop dosage form. 
     
     
         124 . The method of  claim 117 , wherein the compound is administered to tissue surrounding an eye, to an eyelid, and/or to an eye of the patient. 
     
     
         125 . The method of  claim 117 , wherein the compound is administered about once per day to about 6 times per day.
