Abstract

A profiling system including one or more processing devices assigns a classification to a particular user based on anonymous on-line user activities engaged in by the particular user via a plurality of different on-line sites. The profiling system determines that the particular user is currently accessing a particular on-line site. In response to determining that the particular user is currently accessing the particular on-line site, the profiling system delivers selected content to the particular user, wherein the selected content is automatically selected based on the classification.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A method comprising:
assigning, by a profiling system including one or more processing devices, a classification to a particular user based on anonymous on-line user activities engaged in by the particular user via a plurality of different on-line sites; determining, by the profiling system, that the particular user is currently accessing a particular on-line site; and in response to determining that the particular user is currently accessing the particular on-line site, delivering selected content to the particular user, wherein the selected content is automatically selected based on the classification.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
gathering, by a data harvester, a first set of behavioral data generated by activities engaged in by a first user at a first on-line site, wherein the first user is associated with a first anonymous user identifier; gathering, by the data harvester, a second set of behavioral data generated by activities engaged in by a second user at a second on-line site, wherein the second user is associated with a second anonymous user identifier; and linking a unified listener identifier (ULID) associated with the particular user to both the first anonymous user identifier and the second anonymous user identifier.

3 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:
associating the ULID with preferences of the particular user stored in a content provider listener database; and delivering the selected content to the particular user based on the preferences of the particular user.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
gathering, by a data harvester, information about anonymous on-line user activities across multiple different domains; and transmitting the information about anonymous on-line user activities from the data harvester to a content provider listener database for storage.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein delivering selected content to the particular user includes:
transmitting a data stream to a radio station website in via a Content Delivery Network.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein delivering selected content to the particular user includes:
delivering the selected content in near-real time.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein delivering selected content to the particular user includes:
delivering interactive content via a short messaging service.

         8 . A profiling system comprising:
at least a first processing device configured to assign a classification to a particular user based on anonymous on-line user activities engaged in by the particular user via a plurality of different on-line sites; the at least a first processing device configured to determine that the particular user is currently accessing a particular on-line site; and at least a second processing device configured to deliver selected content to the particular user in response to determining that the particular user is currently accessing the particular on-line site, wherein the selected content is automatically selected based on the classification.

9 . The profiling system of claim 8 , wherein:
the at least a first processing device includes a data harvester configured to:
 gather a first set of behavioral data generated by activities engaged in by a first user at a first on-line site, wherein the first user is associated with a first anonymous user identifier;
gather a second set of behavioral data generated by activities engaged in by a second user at a second on-line site, wherein the second user is associated with a second anonymous user identifier; and
link a unified listener identifier (ULID) associated with the particular user to both the first anonymous user identifier and the second anonymous user identifier.

10 . The profiling system of claim 9 , further including:
at least a third processing device implementing a content provider listener database configured to store associations between the ULID and preferences of the particular user; and at least a fourth processing device implementing a content provider configured to deliver the selected content to the particular user based on the preferences of the particular user.

11 . The profiling system of claim 8 , wherein the at least a first processing device includes a data harvester configured to:
gather information about anonymous on-line user activities across multiple different domains; and transmit the information about anonymous on-line user activities to a content provider listener database for storage.

12 . The profiling system of claim 8 , wherein the at least a second processing device is configured to deliver selected content to the particular user by:
transmitting a data stream to a radio station website in via a Content Delivery Network.

13 . The profiling system of claim 8 , wherein the at least a second processing device is configured to:
deliver the selected content in near-real time.

14 . The profiling system of claim 8 , wherein the at least a second processing device is configured to:
deliver interactive content via a short messaging service.

         15 . A system comprising:
a first processing device implementing a data harvester configured to:
 assign a classification to a particular user based on anonymous on-line user activities engaged in by the particular user via a plurality of different on-line sites;
determine that the particular user is currently accessing a particular on-line site; and
at least a second processing device implementing a media delivery subsystem configured to deliver selected content to the particular user in response to determining that the particular user is currently accessing the particular on-line site, wherein the selected content is automatically selected based on the classification.

16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the data harvester is further configured to:
gather a first set of behavioral data generated by activities engaged in by a first user at a first on-line site, wherein the first user is associated with a first anonymous user identifier; gather a second set of behavioral data generated by activities engaged in by a second user at a second on-line site, wherein the second user is associated with a second anonymous user identifier; and link a unified listener identifier (ULID) associated with the particular user to both the first anonymous user identifier and the second anonymous user identifier.

17 . The system of claim 16 , further including:
a content provider listener database configured to store associations between the ULID and preferences of the particular user.

18 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the data harvester is further configured to:
gather information about anonymous on-line user activities across multiple different domains; and transmit the information about anonymous on-line user activities to a content provider listener database for storage.
