Device, Method, and Graphical User Interface for Synchronizing Two or More Displays
Abstract
At a portable electronic device that includes a portable-device display and is in communication with a vehicle display, displaying a first user interface on the portable-device display. Sending, from the portable electronic device to the vehicle display, information for generating a second user interface, the second user interface including an affordance. While the second user interface is displayed on the vehicle display, detecting an input activating the affordance in the second user interface, and in response, causing the portable electronic device to invoke a digital assistant. In response to invoking the digital assistant, prompting a user for an audible request. In response to receiving the audible request, causing display, within the second user interface, of a digital assistant dialogue box; and subsequently causing display, within the second user interface, of a user interface object associated with a search result, and maintaining the first user interface on the portable-device display.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method for displaying user interfaces, performed by a portable electronic device that includes a portable-device display and is in communication with at least two vehicle displays of a vehicle, comprising:
at the portable electronic device:
while the portable electronic device is displaying a first user interface associated with a first application:
sending, from the portable electronic device to a first vehicle display of the at least two vehicle displays, information for generating a second user interface associated with the first application that includes at least some different information than information displayed in the first user interface;
sending, from the portable electronic device to a second vehicle display of the at least two vehicle displays, information for generating a third user interface associated with the first application or a second application executed by the portable electronic device, wherein the third user interface is concurrently displayed with and different from the second user interface, and the first vehicle display and second vehicle display are distinct display devices.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the third user interface includes at least some different information than information displayed in the first user interface and in the second user interface.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first application is a navigation application.
4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the second application is a media player application.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least two vehicle displays are structurally integrated into a vehicle.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the vehicle displays is a primary display, and at least one of the vehicle displays is an auxiliary display.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the auxiliary display is a rear-seat entertainment display.
8 . The method of claim 1 , including:
in response to receiving information that an input has been received; sending, from the portable electronic device to the first vehicle display and the second vehicle display information updating their respective user interfaces.
9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the portable electronic device also updates portable-device display in response to the input.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the third user interface is associated with the second application executed by the portable electronic device, distinct from the first application executed by the portable electronic device.
11 . A computer readable storage medium storing one or more programs, the one or more programs, comprising instructions, that when executed by a portable electronic device that includes a portable-device display, cause the portable electronic device to:
while the portable electronic device is displaying a first user interface associated with a first application and is in communication with at least two vehicle displays of a vehicle:
send, from the portable electronic device to a first vehicle display of the at least two vehicle displays, information for generating a second user interface associated with the first application that includes at least some different information than information displayed in the first user interface;
send, from the portable electronic device to a second vehicle display of the at least two vehicle displays, information for generating a third user interface associated with the first application or a second application executed by the portable electronic device, wherein the third user interface is concurrently displayed with and different from the second user interface, and the first vehicle display and second vehicle display are distinct display devices.
12 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 11 , wherein the third user interface includes at least some different information than information displayed in the first user interface and in the second user interface.
13 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 11 , wherein the first application is a navigation application.
14 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 11 , wherein the second application is a media player application.
15 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 11 , wherein the at least two vehicle displays are structurally integrated into a vehicle.
16 . A portable electronic device, comprising:
a portable-device display; one or more processors; memory; and one or more programs, wherein the one or more programs are stored in the memory and configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for:
while the portable electronic device is displaying a first user interface associated with a first application and is in communication with at least two vehicle displays of a vehicle:
sending, from the portable electronic device to a first vehicle display of the at least two vehicle displays, information for generating a second user interface associated with the first application that includes at least some different information than information displayed in the first user interface;
sending, from the portable electronic device to a second vehicle display of the at least two vehicle displays, information for generating a third user interface associated with the first application or a second application executed by the portable electronic device, wherein the third user interface is concurrently displayed with and different from the second user interface, and the first vehicle display and second vehicle display are distinct display devices.
17 . The portable electronic device of claim 16 , wherein the third user interface includes at least some different information than information displayed in the first user interface and in the second user interface.
18 . The portable electronic device of claim 16 , wherein the first application is a navigation application.
19 . The portable electronic device of claim 16 , wherein the second application is a media player application.
20 . The portable electronic device of claim 16 , wherein the at least two vehicle displays are structurally integrated into a vehicle.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
