Macrocyclic musk lactones and uses thereof

Abstract

Provided herein are uses of lactones, such as macrocyclic lactones, for use in consumer products.

A method of producing a relaxed mood in a subject in need of same, the method comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of a fragrance composition comprising a lactone comprising one or more compounds of the formula:

 each   is independently a single bond, E double bond, Z double bond, or triple bond, as valency permits; and 
 
         k is an integer between 6 and 30, inclusive.

A method of reducing inflammation in a subject in need of same, the method comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of a fragrance composition comprising a lactone comprising one or more compounds of the formula:
