Abstract
A medical assembly includes a perfusion device that has a self-expandable stent. The stent has a proximal end portion and a distal end portion. The proximal end portion tapers from the distal end to a proximal end thereof. A blood-impermeable cover extends at least partially over the distal end portion and the proximal end portion of the stent. The perfusion device further includes an elongated shaft having a proximal end a distal end, wherein the distal end is fixedly secured to the proximal end of the proximal end portion of the stent. The assembly further includes a sheath configured to retain the stent and the cover is a radially collapsed state for insertion into a vessel of a patient, wherein the stent and the cover are expandable from the radially collapsed state to a radially expanded, deployed state within the vessel when deployed from the sheath.

a perfusion device comprising:
a self-expandable stent comprising a generally cylindrical distal end portion and a tapered, conical proximal end portion extending from the distal end portion, wherein the proximal end portion has a first diameter where it is connected to the distal end portion of the stent and tapers in a proximal direction to a second, smaller diameter at a proximal end of the stent;
a blood-impermeable cover extending at least partially over the distal end portion and the proximal end portion of the stent; and
an elongated shaft having a proximal end a distal end, wherein the distal end of
the shaft is fixedly secured to the proximal end of the stent; and a sheath configured to retain the stent and the cover is a radially collapsed state for insertion into a vessel of a patient, wherein the stent and the cover are expandable from the radially collapsed state to a radially expanded, deployed state within the vessel when deployed from the sheath.
2 . The medical assembly of claim 1 , wherein the perfusion device further comprises a handle connected to the proximal end of the shaft.
3 . The medical assembly of claim 1 , wherein the cover extends over the conical proximal end portion of the stent along an entire length of the conical proximal end portion of the stent.
4 . The medical assembly of claim 1 , wherein the stent comprises a plurality of wires forming a plurality of longitudinally extending loops forming the distal end portion and the proximal end portion of the stent, wherein the loops are arranged relative to one another in a circumferential direction of the stent.
5 . The medical assembly of claim 4 , wherein each loop is connected to an adjacent loop at adjacent sides of the loops.
6 . The medical assembly of claim 4 , wherein the wires are made of Nitinol.
7 . The medical assembly of claim 1 , wherein the cover comprises fabric.
8 . The medical assembly of claim 1 , wherein the cover comprises a metal film.
9 . The medical assembly of claim 1 , wherein the proximal end portion of the stent is shaped to allow the stent to be recaptured back into the sheath after the stent has been deployed from the sheath and expands to the deployed state.
10 . The medical assembly of claim 1 , wherein the proximal end portion has a constant taper from the first diameter to the second diameter.
11 . A medical assembly comprising:
a perfusion device comprising:
a self-expandable stent comprising a proximal end portion and a distal end portion extending from a distal end of the proximal end portion, wherein the proximal end portion tapers from the distal end of the proximal end portion to a proximal end of the proximal end portion;
a blood-impermeable cover extending at least partially over the distal end portion and the proximal end portion of the stent; and
an elongated shaft having a proximal end a distal end, wherein the distal end of the shaft is fixedly secured to the proximal end of the proximal end portion of the stent; and
a sheath configured to retain the stent and the cover is a radially collapsed state for insertion into a vessel of a patient, wherein the stent and the cover are expandable from the radially collapsed state to a radially expanded, deployed state within the vessel when deployed from the sheath.
12 . The medical assembly of claim 11 , wherein the perfusion device further comprises a handle connected to the proximal end of the shaft.
13 . The medical assembly of claim 11 , wherein the cover extends over the proximal end portion of the stent along an entire length of the proximal end portion of the stent.
14 . The medical assembly of claim 11 , wherein the stent comprises a plurality of wires forming a plurality of longitudinally extending loops forming the distal end portion and the proximal end portion of the stent, wherein the loops are arranged relative to one another in a circumferential direction of the stent.
15 . The medical assembly of claim 14 , wherein each loop is connected to an adjacent loop at adjacent sides of the loops.
16 . The medical assembly of claim 14 , wherein the wires are made of Nitinol.
17 . The medical assembly of claim 14 , wherein the cover comprises fabric.

The medical assembly of claim 11 , wherein the proximal end portion of the stent has a conical shape that tapers from a first diameter at the distal end of the proximal end portion to a second diameter at the proximal end of the proximal end portion, wherein the second diameter is less than the first diameter.
19 . The medical assembly of claim 18 , wherein the proximal end portion of the stent is shaped to allow the stent to be recaptured back into the sheath after the stent has been deployed from the sheath and expands to the deployed state.
