Abstract
An abrasive article includes an abrasive body having a bond material, abrasive particles contained within the bond material, and an electronic assembly coupled to the abrasive body, wherein the electronic assembly comprises at least one electronic device. In an embodiment, the electronic assembly is coupled to the abrasive body in a tamper-proof manner.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method of using an abrasive article comprising:
providing an abrasive body including:
a bond material;
abrasive particles contained within the bond material; and
an electronic assembly coupled to the abrasive body, wherein the electronic assembly comprises an electronic device including information; and
at least one of the following:
accessing manufacturing information contained on the electronic device to assess quality of the abrasive article; or
writing and storing feedback from a system and/or individual on the electronic device, wherein the feedback is related to the abrasive article, wherein the system and/or individual is included in manufacturing, sale, distribution, storage, use, maintenance, and/or quality of the abrasive article; or
alerting a customer to one or more alert conditions, wherein alerting includes sending an alert signal to one or more customer-registered mobile devices.
2 . The method of claim 1 , comprising writing and storing feedback from the system and/or individual on the electronic device and further comprising providing the feedback to another system and/or another individual.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein writing and storing feedback is performed by a customer.
4 . The method of claim 1 , comprising accessing the manufacturing information to assess quality of the abrasive article, wherein the manufacturing information includes processing information, manufacturing date, shipment information, or any combination thereof.
5 . The method of claim 1 , comprising writing the manufacturing information onto the electronic device.
6 . The method of claim 1 , comprising alerting the customer to one or more alert conditions via the electronic assembly, wherein the one or more alerting conditions are associated with an age of the abrasive article, one or more environmental conditions of the abrasive article, shipment of the abrasive article, use of the abrasive article, operation of the abrasive article, conditions encountered by the electronic assembly, or any combination thereof.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the environmental information includes at least one of a presence of water vapor within a packaging of the abrasive article, a water vapor in the abrasive article, a temperature of the abrasive article, a pressure on the abrasive article, a presence of harmful chemicals in the packing, a presence of harmful chemicals in the abrasive article, damage to the abrasive article, tampering information, or any combination thereof.
8 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the alert signal can include a text message to the customer-registered mobile device.
9 . The method of claim 6 , comprising using the alert signal to change operating conditions and eliminate the alert condition.
10 . The method of claim 6 , wherein alerting the customer comprises generating the alert signal when the alert condition exceeds a pre-programmed threshold.
11 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the alert signal comprises a sound, optical indicia, an electronic communication, or a combination thereof.
12 . The method of claim 6 , wherein alerting the customer includes sending at least one alert signal to a manufacturer-registered mobile device.
13 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising sending the alert signal to a remote system in addition to the one or more customer-registered mobile devices.
14 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the electronic device comprises customer information including information selected from the group consisting of customer registration information, product identification information, product cost information, manufacturing date, shipment date, environmental information, use information, or any combination thereof.
15 . The method of claim 1 , comprising writing and storing customer information onto the electronic device.
16 . The method of claim 15 , comprising using the customer information contained on the electronic device to provide feedback to another system and/or individual.
17 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising accessing the manufacturing information to determine appropriate conditions for use of the abrasive article.
18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the conditions for use include appropriate wheel speed, force, power of a machine to be used, burst speed, or any combination thereof.
19 . The method of claim 1 , comprising reading the information contained on the electronic device by a mobile device.
20 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of the electronic assembly is in direct contact with the bond material of the bonded abrasive body.Cited by (0)
