Abstract

A coir pellet of coconut pith mixed with granulated hard shell crumbs compressed into a pellet at a compression ratio of at least 3:1, the pellet being a sphere made of two half-spheres pressed together.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A coir pellet, comprising:
 coconut pith mixed with granulated hard shell crumbs compressed into a pellet at a compression ratio of at least 3:1, the pellet comprising a sphere made of two half-spheres pressed together.   
     
     
         2 . The coir pellet as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the pellet includes at least one other material comprises one selected from the group comprised of: a binder, dolomite lime, worm casings, deodorants, grass seed, molasses, starch, and compost material. 
     
     
         3 . The coir pellet as claimed in  claim 2 , wherein the at least one other material comprises starch at a concentration of 0.3 to 0.9 percent. 
     
     
         4 . The coir pellet as claimed in  claim 2 , wherein the at least one other material comprises molasses at a concentration of 0.5 to 1.0 percent. 
     
     
         5 . The coir pellet as claimed in  claim 2 , wherein the pellet includes grass seed. 
     
     
         6 . The coir pellet as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the hard shell crumbs have a concentration of 2.0-5.0 percent. 
     
     
         7 . The coir pellet as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the compression ratio is at least 5:1. 
     
     
         8 . The coir pellet as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the compression ratio is at least 8:1. 
     
     
         9 . The coir pellet as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the compression ratio is at least 10:1.
