Abstract
A computer-implemented method and system for verifying the identity of a user in an identity authentication and biometric verification system which includes collecting information from the user regarding the user's identity, which is then electronically authenticated. Upon authentication, personal information regarding the verified identity of the user is retrieved from a source database which is used to verify the identity of the user, via user interaction. Upon successful verification and authentication, biometric data regarding the user is electronically collected.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A biometric identification system, comprising:
at least one non-transitory storage medium that stores instructions; and at least one processor that executes the instructions to:
receive biographic information regarding a person from a first input component;
receive information from a second input component that reads a physical identification document associated with the person;
determine the person with which to associate stored biometric data at least by using at least one of the biographic information or the information to access data in at least one external data source;
verify the person using the at least one external data source and the at least one of the biographic information or the information;
receive biometric data for the person electronically collected using a biometric capture device; and
upon confirming a correspondence between the biometric data and the stored biometric data, initiate presentation of stored information about the person.
2 . The biometric identification system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor further executes the instructions to obtain third information from at least one of a credit card or a debit card associated with the person.
3 . The biometric identification system of claim 2 , wherein the at least one processor further executes the instructions to store the third information in association with the stored biometric data.
4 . The biometric identification system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor stores payment information for the person associated with the stored biometric data.
5 . The biometric identification system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is a component of a kiosk.
6 . The biometric identification system of claim 1 , wherein the biometric data corresponds to at least a portion of a hand of the person.
7 . The biometric identification system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor bills the person using stored payment information for the person.
8 . The biometric identification system of claim 1 , wherein the biographic information comprises a phone number.
9 . The biometric identification system of claim 1 , wherein the second input component obtains an image of the physical identification document.
10 . The biometric identification system of claim 1 , wherein the physical identification document comprises a driver's license.
11 . A method, comprising:
receiving biographic information regarding a person from a first input component, the biographic information being biographical information regarding the person; receiving information from a second input component that reads a physical identification document with the person; determining the person with which to associate stored biometric data at least by using at least one of the biographic information or the information to access data in at least one external data source; verifying the person using the at least one external data source and the at least one of the biographic information or the information; receiving biometric data for the person electronically collected using a biometric capture device; and upon confirming a correspondence between the biometric data and the stored biometric data, initiate presentation of stored information about the person.
12 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising reading a credit card or a debit card.
13 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising storing payment information for the person associated with the biometric data.
14 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the physical identification document includes an age of the person.
15 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the receiving information from the second input component that reads the physical identification document associated with the person comprises receiving information from the second input component that scans the physical identification document.
16 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the receiving the biometric data for the person comprises receiving the biometric data corresponding to at least a portion of a hand of the person.
17 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising allowing the person to enter an area upon confirming the correspondence between the biometric data and the stored biometric data.
18 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the biographic information component is a component of a kiosk.
19 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising billing the person using stored payment information for the person.
20 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the receiving the biographic information regarding the person comprises receiving a phone number.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
