System for exchanging a ticket during an event
Abstract
Aspects of the present disclosure include an electronic ticket processing system that enables the management of a venue with auction-based, during event, peer-to-peer electronic ticket exchanges. The peer-to-peer during event ticket exchange can be limited by the location of the electronic device of a user and can allow the event attendees enhancement of their experience (e.g. by upgrading their seat location or rights to access). In some embodiments, the during event peer-to-peer ticket exchange can be encouraged or controlled by the venue in accordance to broadcasting aspects, crowd control, analytics, to encourage consumer spending, memberships, and/or other real time updates (e.g. weather, game scores, security concerns).

21 . An electronic ticket processing system, for a peer-to-peer exchange of tickets to an event located at a venue, the system comprising:
a computing device having a processor, wherein the computing device is configured to communicate with a plurality of wireless devices, wherein a first one of the wireless devices is controlled by a first event attendee in possession of a ticket to a first seat and desiring to obtain a ticket to a second seat after the beginning time of an event; wherein a second one of the wireless devices is controlled by a second event attendee in possession of the ticket to the second seat; wherein the first and second attendees engage in a peer-to-peer transaction including the electronic exchange of the ticket to the second seat during the event; wherein the computing device is configured to communicate with the venue’s seat inventory system; and executable software code executed by the processor of the computing device for processing the peer-to-peer transaction of the electronic exchange of the ticket to the second seat, wherein the peer-to-peer transaction for the electronic exchange of the ticket to the second seat comprises:
a verification process that includes confirming that a location of the one or more of the plurality of wireless devices is within a pre-determined geofenced location area at a time of the peer-to-peer transaction of the electronic exchange of the ticket to the second seat is processed;
the second event attendee offers the ticket to the second seat to at least the first event attendee and, as a result of an auction-based exchange, the ticket to the second seat is transferred to the first event attendee.
22 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the peer-to-peer transaction for the electronic exchange of the ticket includes providing a notification to the second event attendee that the second ticket is sold to the first event attendee.
23 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the peer-to-peer transaction for the electronic exchange of the ticket includes providing the second event attendee with the opportunity to designate a portion of the sale price of the ticket to the second seat to be donated to a selected charity.
24 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the peer-to-peer transaction for the electronic exchange of the ticket to the second seat includes the computing device providing a suggested price of the ticket to the second seat to the wireless device controlled by the second event attendee.
25 . The system of claim 24 , wherein the suggested price is based on at least one of the following two conditions: the score of the event and the current weather conditions.
26 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the peer-to-peer transaction for the electronic exchange of the ticket to the second seat includes both returning revenue to the venue and allowing the second event attendee to recover a portion of the ticket price paid.
27 . An electronic ticket processing system, for a peer-to-peer exchange of tickets to an event located at a venue, the system comprising:
a computing device having a processor, wherein the computing device is configured to communicate with a plurality of wireless devices, wherein a first one of the wireless devices is controlled by a first user desiring to obtain a ticket to a seat after the beginning time of an event; wherein a second one of the wireless devices is controlled by a second user in possession of the ticket to the seat; wherein the first and second users engage in a peer-to-peer transaction including the electronic exchange of the ticket to the seat during the event; and executable software code executed by the processor of the computing device for processing the peer-to-peer transaction of the electronic exchange of the ticket to the seat, wherein the peer-to-peer transaction for the electronic exchange of the ticket to the seat comprises:
a verification process that includes confirming that the event is in progress and that a location of the first one of the plurality of wireless devices is within a pre-determined geofenced location area at a time of the peer-to-peer transaction of the electronic exchange of the ticket to the second seat is processed;
a confirmation process that includes the second user providing information regarding the seat to the computing device via the second wireless device;
providing the second user a suggested listing price for the ticket to the seat; and
the second user selecting an actual listing price and offering the ticket to the seat to at least the first user;
the first user making an offer to purchase the ticket to the second seat;
the second user accepting the offer; and
transferring the ticket to the seat to the first user.
28 . The system of claim 27 , wherein the system is configured to permit the second user to request that the ticket be offered for sale.
29 . The system of claim 27 , wherein the peer-to-peer transaction for the electronic exchange of the ticket to the seat includes the second user selecting a charity to receive a portion of the sale price of the ticket to the seat.
30 . The system of claim 27 , wherein the suggested price is based on at least one of the following two conditions: the score of the event and the current weather conditions.
31 . The system of claim 27 , wherein the electronic exchange of the ticket to the seat comprises an auction-based exchange.
32 . The system of claim 27 , wherein the peer-to-peer transaction for the electronic exchange of the ticket to the seat includes both returning revenue to the venue and allowing the second user to recover a portion of the ticket price paid.
33 . An electronic ticket processing system, for a peer-to-peer exchange of tickets to an event located at a venue, the system comprising:
a computing device having a processor, wherein the computing device is configured to communicate with a plurality of wireless devices, wherein a first one of the wireless devices is controlled by a first user that is attending the event and in possession of a ticket to a first seat and desiring to obtain a ticket to a second seat after the beginning time of an event; wherein a second one of the wireless devices is controlled by a second user in possession of the ticket to the second seat; wherein the first and second users engage in a peer-to-peer transaction including the electronic exchange of the ticket to the second seat during the event; wherein the computing device is configured to communicate with the venue’s seat inventory system; and executable software code executed by the processor of the computing device for processing the peer-to-peer transaction of the electronic exchange of the ticket to the second seat, wherein the peer-to-peer transaction for the electronic exchange of the ticket comprises:
a verification process that includes confirming that the event has begun;
providing the second user with a suggested listing price for the second seat; and
the second user selecting an actual listing price and offering the ticket to the second seat to at least the first user; and
transferring the ticket to the second seat to the first user.
34 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the electronic exchange of the ticket to the second seat comprises an auction-based exchange.
35 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the peer-to-peer transaction for the electronic exchange of the ticket includes providing the second user with the opportunity to designate a portion of the sale price of the ticket to the second seat to be donated to a selected charity.
