Abstract

A system and method is provided for a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system and the processing of data collected thereby. An internet gateway chip (140, 240, 340, 440) is included in elements of a CGM system to facilitate direct data communication with cloud network storage (150, 250, 350, 450) to thereby communicate and store data of a CGM sensor (110, 210, 310, 410) of the CGM system. The internet gateway chip can be included in a receiver (130, 230, 330), such as an existing wireless receiver and display device of the CGM; in a smart phone or similar device, where the smart phone is also the wireless receiver and display device of the CGM; or in the sensor, such as an existing sensor and/or transmitter (410, 420) of the CGM to facilitate direct data communication between the CGM system and cloud network storage.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 - 20 . (canceled)

21 . A continuous glucose monitor (CGM) comprising:
a sensor configured to generate glucose measurements; a transmitter coupled with the sensor, the transmitter configured to transmit the glucose measurements; an internet gateway chip; and a memory having instructions that when run on a processor will cause the processor to confirm that the CGM includes the internet gateway chip.

22 . The CGM of claim 21 , wherein the sensor is disposable.

23 . The CGM of claim 21 , wherein the transmitter is non-implantable.

24 . The CGM of claim 21 , wherein the internet gateway chip is incorporated with the sensor.

25 . The CGM of claim 21 , wherein the internet gateway chip is incorporated with the transmitter.

         26 . The CGM of claim 21 , further comprising a receiver.

27 . The CGM of claim 26 , wherein the receiver is wireless.

28 . The CGM of claim 26 , wherein the internet gateway chip is incorporated with the receiver.

29 . The CGM of claim 21 , further comprising a display device.

30 . The CGM of claim 26 , wherein the receiver comprises a web service application programming interface (API), a cloud storage gateway, or a Web-based user interface.

31 . The CGM of claim 29 , wherein the display device comprises a web service application programming interface (API), a cloud storage gateway, or a Web-based user interface.

32 . The CGM of claim 26 , wherein the CGM is further configured to control the receiver to transmit the glucose measurements to a cloud network storage via the receiver without user interactions.

         33 . A system comprising:
the CGM of claim 21 , wherein the system is configured to:
in response to determining that the CGM includes the internet gateway chip, trigger the internet gateway chip to transmit the glucose measurements to a cloud storage network without a need for additional devices or user operations.

34 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the transmitter is further configured to transmit the glucose measurements to a mobile device.

35 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the transmitter is further configured to transmit the glucose measurements to a display device for display.

36 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the transmitter is coupled to an exposed portion of the sensor to process the glucose measurements.

         37 . A method comprising:
wirelessly transmitting, with a glucose monitor, glucose measurements from the glucose monitor to a recipient, wherein the wirelessly transmitting comprises:
 determining whether the glucose monitor includes a chip for wireless communication;
in response to determining that the glucose monitor includes the chip, wirelessly transmitting the glucose measurements using the chip; and
in response to determining that the glucose monitor does not include the chip, relaying the glucose measurements to the recipient via a relay device, wherein the relaying comprises wirelessly transmitting the glucose measurements to the relay device.

38 . The method of claim 37 , wherein relaying the glucose measurements via the relay device comprises relaying the glucose measurements to a display device for display.

39 . The method of claim 37 , wherein the chip is an internet gateway chip.

40 . The method of claim 37 , wherein the chip is configured to communicate wirelessly with one or more cloud storage networks.
