Abstract

A user interface for a beer recipe creator may have a series of icons that may represent ingredients. A user may drag and drop or otherwise add the icons to containers on a display screen to add or remove ingredients to the recipe. With each added or removed ingredient, a set of descriptors may be updated. The descriptors may include numerical values of beer parameters as well as textual descriptions and visual descriptions. The system may allow a user to start with a desired beer style, and the parameters may show variances from the selected style. The system may generate an ingredients list, as well as a brewing recipe that may be transferred to a controller for a beer making machine. The system may adjust certain parameters that are controllable by the beer making machine to make flavor and other adjustments selected by a user.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A system comprising:
 a hardware platform comprising a computer processor; a control system executing on said hardware platform configured to:
 receive a performance model of a computer controlled brewing system;
 determine a first recipe, said first recipe having a first set of ingredients and a first mashing schedule;
 determine a first set of beer characteristics for said first recipe, said first set of beer characteristics being based on a first mashing schedule;
 creating a first verbal description of said first set of beer characteristics;
 displaying said first verbal description of said first set of beer characteristics on a user interface;
 receive a first user input to adjust a first flavor characteristic, first flavor characteristic being one of said first set of beer characteristics;
 change said first mashing schedule to a second mashing schedule and determining a second set of beer characteristics for said second boiling schedule;
 creating a second verbal description of said second set of beer characteristics;
 displaying said second verbal description;
 storing said second mashing schedule as a second recipe for said computer controlled brewing system.

         2 . The system of claim 1 , said first flavor characteristic being dryness/maltiness.

         3 . The system of claim 2 , when said first user input indicates increasing dryness, decreasing an alpha amylase extraction step during said mashing schedule.

         4 . The system of claim 2 , when said first user input indicates increasing maltiness, increasing an alpha amylase extraction step during said mashing schedule.

         5 . The system of claim 1 , said first verbal description comprising a first beer type based on a first set of ingredients.

         6 . The system of claim 5 , when said first user input indicates a second beer type, selecting a second set of ingredients corresponding to said second beer type.

         7 . The system of claim 6 , said second set of ingredients being selected from a set of available ingredients.

         8 . The system of claim 1 , said first user input being an interactive graphical user interface.

         9 . The system of claim 8 , said interactive graphical user interface comprising a drag and drop mechanism for manually changing an ingredients list.

         10 . The system of claim 9 , said ingredients list being taken from a list of available ingredients.

         11 . The system of claim 1 , said first verbal description comprising a color component.

         12 . The system of claim 11 , when said first user input indicates making said color component darker, changing said first ingredients list to a second ingredients list, said second ingredients list having a change in the grain bill.
