Abstract

A server-based environment for reporting a status of a security, monitoring and automation controller is provided. Detecting cessation of an always-on persistent network connection between the SMA controller and the server is also provided. Reporting the cessation of the network connection to an end user and defined others is further provided. A further aspect provides for automatically reporting an alarm event to a central station, the end user, and others, in the event the cessation of the network connection occurs while the SMA controller is aimed and after a zone fault event, and not receiving a disarm notification prior to expiration of a preset entry delay.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method comprising:
based on receiving data indicating a state of a premises management system, causing, by a first device, initiation of a delay timer; determining a communication interruption in a network connection between the first device and the premises management system; and based on the communication interruption and expiration of the delay timer, sending, to a second device, an indication of the state of the premises management system.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the data indicating the state of the premises management system is indicative of a state of at least one premises device of the premises management system.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the state of the at least one premises device comprises at least one of a triggered state, an armed state, or an unarmed state.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the delay timer is configured to expire based on an expiration of a pre-defined time period.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the state of the premises management system comprises an event detected by the premises management system.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the communication interruption in the network connection comprises a loss of the network connection.

9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising sending, to the second device, a request for emergency assistance.

         10 . A device comprising:
one or more processors; and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the device to: based on receiving data indicating a state of a premises management system, cause initiation of a delay timer; determine a communication interruption in a network connection between the first device and the premises management system; and based on the communication interruption and expiration of the delay timer, send, to a second device, an indication of the state of the premises management system.

11 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the data indicating the state of the premises management system is indicative of a state of at least one premises device of the premises management system.

12 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the state of the at least one premises device comprises at least one of a triggered state, an armed state, or an unarmed state.

13 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the at least one premises device comprises at least one of an alarm or a sensor.

14 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the state of the premises management system comprises an alarm state.

15 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the delay timer is configured to expire based on an expiration of a pre-defined time period.

16 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the state of the premises management system comprises an event detected by the premises management system.

17 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the communication interruption in the network connection comprises a loss of the network connection.

18 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the device to send, to the second device, a request for emergency assistance.

19 . A computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed, cause:
based on receiving data indicating a state of a premises management system, causing, by a first device, initiation of a delay timer; determining a communication interruption in a network connection between the first device and the premises management system; and based on the communication interruption and expiration of the delay timer, sending, to a second device, an indication of the state of the premises management system.

20 . The computer-readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the data indicating the state of the premises management system is indicative of a state of at least one premises device of the premises management system.

21 . The computer-readable medium of claim 20 , wherein the state of the at least one premises device comprises at least one of a triggered state, an armed state, or an unarmed state.
