Abstract
A computing device includes a power supply that supplies power to the computing device. The power supply includes a hardware processor that detects an electrical power disturbance in the power supply. The power supply also includes a bus that communicates an indication of the electrical power disturbance to a monitoring device. The indication includes an identifier of the power supply.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A computing device comprising:
a power supply configured to supply power to the computing device, the power supply comprising:
a hardware processor configured to detect an electrical power disturbance in the power supply; and
a bus configured to communicate an indication of the electrical power disturbance to a monitoring device, the indication comprising an identifier of the power supply.
2 . The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the hardware processor is further configured to determine an input voltage range for the power supply, wherein the electrical power disturbance in the power supply is detected when an entry or exit voltage to the power supply falls outside the input voltage range.
3 . The computing device of claim 2 , wherein the electrical power disturbance in the power supply is detected when the entry or exit voltage to the power supply falls outside the input voltage range for a preset duration of time.
4 . The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the hardware processor is further configured to record a time of the electrical power disturbance.
5 . The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the hardware processor is further configured to set a flag indicating that the electrical power disturbance occurred.
6 . The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the hardware processor is further configured to reboot the power supply in response to determining that the power supply crashed.
7 . The computing device of claim 1 , wherein the hardware processor is further configured to capture a voltage waveform of the power supply at a preset data rate.
8 . A method comprising:
supplying, by a power supply, power to a device; detecting, by a hardware processor of the power supply, an electrical power disturbance in the power supply; and communicating, by a bus of the power supply, an indication of the electrical power disturbance to a monitoring device.
9 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising determining, by the hardware processor, an input voltage range for the power supply, wherein the electrical power disturbance in the power supply is detected when an entry or exit voltage to the power supply falls outside the input voltage range.
10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the electrical power disturbance in the power supply is detected when the entry or exit voltage to the power supply falls outside the input voltage range for a preset duration of time.
11 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising recording, by the hardware processor, a time of the electrical power disturbance.
12 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising setting, by the hardware processor, a flag indicating that the electrical power disturbance occurred.
13 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising rebooting, by the hardware processor, the power supply in response to determining that the power supply crashed.
14 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising capturing, by the hardware processor, a voltage waveform of the power supply at a preset data rate.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
