Abstract
Disclosed are example embodiments of a milling bur specifically designed to mill a dental prosthesis from a full-sintered zirconia blank. The milling bur comprises a milling tip configured to have a factor of safety of at least 2 by having a first coverage-percentage of grinding particles covering a surface area of the tip of the milling bur. The factor of safety is a number of times the milling bur can fully mill a dental prosthesis from a fully-sintered zirconia blank.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A milling bur for milling a fully-sintered zirconia blank to create an on-demand dental prosthesis, the milling bur comprising:
a shaft region, and a tip region comprising a plurality of grinding particles embedded in a metal coating covering at least a portion of the tip region, wherein a coverage-percentage of the grinding particles over a surface area of the tip region of the milling bur is at least 25%, and wherein a mean height value of the grinding particles on the tip region of the milling bur is less than 35 microns.
2 . The milling bur of claim 1 , wherein the coverage-percentage of the grinding particles over a surface area of the tip region of the milling bur is at least 33%.
3 . The milling bur of claim 1 , wherein the coverage-percentage of the grinding particles over a surface area of the tip region of the milling bur is at least 40%.
4 . The milling bur of claim 1 , wherein the coverage-percentage of the grinding particles over a surface area of the tip region of the milling bur is between 25%-55%.
5 . The milling bur of claim 1 , wherein the coverage-percentage of the grinding particles over a surface area of the tip region of the milling bur is between 35%-60%.
6 . The milling bur of claim 1 , wherein the mean height value of the grinding particles on the tip region of the milling bur is less than 30 microns.
7 . The milling bur of claim 4 , wherein the mean height value of the grinding particles on the tip region of the milling bur is less than 30 microns.
8 . The milling bur of claim 5 , wherein the mean height value of the grinding particles on the tip region of the milling bur is less than 30 microns.
9 . The milling bur of claim 1 , wherein the mean height value of the grinding particles on the tip region of the milling bur is between 20-25 microns.
10 . The milling bur of claim 4 , wherein the mean height value of the grinding particles on the tip region of the milling bur is between 20-25 microns.
11 . The milling bur of claim 5 , wherein the mean height value of the grinding particles on the tip region of the milling bur is between 20-25 microns.
12 . The milling bur of claim 1 , wherein the metal coating comprises a metal alloy coating.
13 . The milling bur of claim 12 , wherein the metal alloy comprises nickel.
