Abstract
In an example, the technique also detects and measures vital signs of each human target by continuous, non-intrusive method. In an example, the vital signs of interest include a heart rate and a respiratory rate, which can provide valuable information about the human's wellness. Additionally, the heart rate and respiratory rate can also be used to identify a particular person, if more than two target humans living in a home. Of course, there can be other variations, modifications, and alternatives.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . (canceled)
. (canceled)
. A system for monitoring a status of a target human, comprising:
a sensor configured to capture data from the target human, the data related to a position or a location of the target human, wherein the sensor is configured to capture the data from the target human wirelessly; and software configured to process the captured data to determine the status of the target human, the status of the target human comprising whether the user has fallen, and wherein the software is further configured to cause notification of a third party when the target human has fallen.
. (canceled)
. The system of claim 3 , wherein the sensor comprises a transceiver configured to emit a radiofrequency signal toward the target human and wherein the transceiver is configured to receive a radiofrequency signal backscattered from the target human.
. The system of claim 3 , wherein the sensor is further configured to monitor a vital sign of the target human.
. The system of claim 6 , wherein the vital sign comprises a heart rate or a respiration rate.
. The system of claim 3 , wherein the third party comprises an emergency medical response team, a caretaker, or a family member of the target human.
. The system of claim 8 , wherein the third party is contacted with a communication channel comprising a smart phone application, short messaging service (SMS), email, or voicemail.
. The system of claim 3 , wherein the sensor is configured to operate when the target human is disposed behind a wall or an object.
. The system of claim 3 , further comprising an audio element configured for voice interaction with the target human when the target human is in need of assistance.
. The system of claim 3 , wherein the sensor is configured to operate when a second human is disposed adjacent the target human, and wherein the software is configured to distinguish between data associated with the second human and the target human.
. The system of claim 3 , further comprising a passive sensor configured to augment the data captured by the sensor.
. The system of claim 13 , wherein the passive sensor comprises a microphone.
. A method for monitoring a status of a target human, comprising
wirelessly capturing data from the target human with a sensor, wherein the data is related to a position or a location of the target human; and processing the captured data using software configured to determine the status of the target human, the status of the target human comprising whether the user has fallen, and wherein the software is further configured to cause notification of a third party when the target human has fallen.
. The method of claim 15 , wherein wirelessly capturing the data from the target human comprises transmitting a radiofrequency signal toward the target human and receiving a radiofrequency signal backscattered from the target human.
. The method of claim 15 , wherein wirelessly capturing the data from the target human comprises wirelessly capturing a vital sign of the target human.
. The method of 17 , wherein the sign comprises a heart ate or a respiration rate.
. The method of claim 15 , wherein causing notification of a third party comprises causing notification of an emergency medical response team, a caretaker, or a family member of the target human.
. The system of claim 19 , wherein causing notification of the third party comprises causing notification of the third party with a communication channel comprising a smart phone application, short messaging service (SMS), email, or voicemail.
. The method of claim 15 , wherein wirelessly capturing the data from the target human with the sensor comprises wirelessly capturing the data from the target human when the target human is disposed behind a wall or an object.
. The method of claim 15 , further comprising interacting with the target human with a voice from an audio element when the target human is in need of assistance.
. The method of claim 15 , wherein wirelessly capturing the data from the target human comprises wirelessly capturing the data from the target human when a second human is disposed adjacent the target human, and wherein processing the data comprises processing the captured data with the software and distinguishing between data associated with the second human and the target human.
. The method of claim 15 , further comprising capturing data from the target human with a passive sensor and augmenting the data captured wirelessly by the sensor.
. The method of claim 24 , wherein the passive sensor comprises a microphone.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
