Abstract
A frac plug with a flapper positioned within a shearable housing. More specifically, embodiments are directed towards an upper portion of the shearable housing that is configured to be separated from an insert responsive to flowing back through the frac plug.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A downhole tool comprising:
a housing; an object being run in hole within the housing to a desired position, the object is configured to form a seal across the housing; a retaining device configured to control a positioning of the object within the housing, wherein the retaining device is configured to move up hole after activating the housing allowing bidirectional flow through the downhole tool thereafter.
2 . The downhole tool of claim 1 , wherein the retaining device is configured to restrict bidirectional movement of the object before the housing is activated.
3 . The downhole tool of claim 1 , wherein the retaining device and object are separable elements.
4 . The downhole tool of claim 1 , wherein an upper end of the housing includes a first inner diameter, and the lower end of the housing includes a second inner diameter, the second inner diameter being smaller than the first inner diameter.
5 . The downhole tool of claim 1 , wherein a pressure differential across the object is configured to activate the housing.
6 . The downhole tool of claim 5 , wherein the pressure differential is caused by flowing fluid in the up hole direction.
7 . The downhole tool of claim 5 , wherein the pressure differential is caused by flowing fluid in the downhole direction, wherein the retaining device is configured to move up hole after activating the housing and flowing fluid up hole.
8 . The downhole tool of claim 5 , wherein the retaining device moves downhole after the housing is activated.
9 . The downhole tool of claim 8 , wherein the object moves in a downhole direction within the housing after the activation of the housing.
10 . The downhole tool of claim 1 , wherein the object is configured to allow the flow of fluid through downhole tool in a up hole direction before the housing is activated.
11 . The downhole tool of claim 10 , wherein portions of the housing are configured to move up hole after activating the housing and flowing fluid up hole.
12 . The downhole tool of claim 1 , wherein the object maintains the seal after the housing is activated.
13 . The downhole tool of claim 1 , wherein an upper surface of the object is positioned below an upper surface of the housing.
14 . The downhole tool of claim 1 , wherein an inner diameter of the housing includes a ledge, the ledge being configured to receive the object.
15 . The downhole tool of claim 1 , wherein the retaining device is configured to be inserted into the object.
16 . The downhole tool of claim 15 , wherein the retaining device is configured to be inserted into the housing.
17 . The downhole tool of claim 1 , wherein the downhole tool is run attached to a conveying method.
18 . The downhole tool of claim 1 , wherein the downhole tool is run by pumping the downhole tool with fluid.
19 . A subterranean apparatus comprised of:
a body; an element configured to create a barrier spanning the body, a securing mechanism configured to manage a positioning of the element within the body, wherein the securing mechanism is configured to shift towards a surface after activation of the body and directing fluid towards the surface, subsequently enabling two-way fluid flow through the subterranean apparatus.
20 . A method for a downhole tool comprising:
running an object within a housing to a desired position downhole forming, via the object, a seal across the housing; controlling a positioning of the object within the housing via a retaining device; moving the retaining device up hole after activating the housing; allowing bidirectional flow through the downhole tool after the retaining device moves uphole.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
