Abstract

A system and method for conducting a game between at least one live player and at least one computer-controlled player includes executing a training program between at least two agents to generate probability weights correlating actions or meta-actions representing a set or sequenced set of actions with a probability that the action or meta-action will produce a game outcome meeting a specified criterion or specified criteria. A game is conducted in which at least one live player plays against at least one computer-controlled player in which the computer-controlled player selects actions at one or more of the decision nodes in the game based, at least in part, on the probability weights.

         20 . A method for use by a computer system for conducting a game between at least one computer-controlled player and at least one live player comprising:
 receiving, by the computer system, input including a wager from a live player entered through a gaming device interface; conducting, by the computer system, a game to produce a game outcome by controlling the computer-controlled player against the live player; selecting by the computer-controlled player at least one action at one or more decision nodes base, at least in part, on calculated probability weights determined by the computer system; and producing the game outcome based on the selected at least one action of the computer-controlled player; resolving the wager based on the game outcome.

         21 . The method of claim 20 further comprising generating the probability weights by the computer system responsive to multiple iterations of the game performed by agents controlled by the computer system.

         22 . The method of claim 20 , wherein the step of selecting further comprises selecting sets of two or more actions at one or more of the decision nodes based, at list in part on said probability weights.

         23 . The method of claim 20 , wherein each decision node includes the same actions available to the computer-controlled player and the live player.

         24 . The method of claim 20 , wherein the step of selecting further comprises selecting by the computer-controlled player at least one wagering action at the one or more decision nodes base, at least in part, on the calculated probability weights determined by the computer system.

         25 . The method of claim 20 , wherein the step of producing further comprises:
 determining which of the computer controlled player and the live player wins a poker game; and distributing at least a portion of a pot associated with the poker game to the live player if the live player wins the poker game.

         26 . The method of claim 20 , wherein the step of selecting further comprises selecting by the computer-controlled player at the least one action at one or more decision nodes a wagering action to place an additional wager.

         27 . The method of claim 20 , wherein the step of selecting further comprises selecting by the computer-controlled player at the least one action at one or more decision nodes a fold action to terminate conduct of the game.

         28 . A method for use by a computer system for conducting a game between at least one computer-controlled player and at least one live player comprising:
 generating the probability weights by the computer system responsive to multiple iterations of the game performed by agents controlled by the computer system, each iteration using a meta-action representing a sequence of at least two actions at one or more decision nodes; receiving, by the computer system, input including a wager from a live player entered through a gaming device interface; conducting, by the computer system, a game to produce a game outcome by controlling the computer-controlled player against the live player; selecting by the computer-controlled player at least one action at the one or more decision nodes based, at least in part, on calculated probability weights determined by the computer system; and producing the game outcome based on the selected at least one action of the computer-controlled player; resolving the wager based on the game outcome.

         29 . The method of claim 28 , wherein the step of selecting further comprises selecting sets of two or more actions at one or more of the decision nodes based, at list in part on said probability weights.

         30 . The method of claim 28 , wherein each decision node includes the same actions available to the computer-controlled player and the live player.

         31 . The method of claim 28 , wherein the step of selecting further comprises selecting by the computer-controlled player at least one wagering action at the one or more decision nodes base, at least in part, on the calculated probability weights determined by the computer system.

         32 . The method of claim 28 , wherein the step of producing further comprises:
 determining which of the computer controlled player and the live player wins a poker game; and distributing at least a portion of a pot associated with the poker game to the live player if the live player wins the poker game.

         33 . The method of claim 28 , wherein the step of selecting further comprises selecting by the computer-controlled player at the least one action at one or more decision nodes a wagering action to place an additional wager.

         34 . The method of claim 28 , wherein the step of selecting further comprises selecting by the computer-controlled player at the least one action at one or more decision nodes a fold action to terminate conduct of the game.

         35 . The method of claim 28 , wherein the step of generating further comprises associating meta-actions with a probability weight that predetermined criteria will be met as a result of the meta-actions.

         36 . A method for use by a computer system for conducting a game between at least one computer-controlled player and at least one live player comprising:
 receiving, by the computer system, input including a wager from a live player entered through a gaming device interface; conducting, by the computer system, a game to produce a game outcome by controlling the computer-controlled player against the live player; selecting by the computer-controlled player at least one action at one or more decision nodes base, at least in part, on calculated probability weights determined by the computer system, wherein the step of selecting further comprises:
 selecting by the computer-controlled player at least one wagering action at the one or more decision nodes based, at least in part, on the calculated probability weights determined by the computer system;
 selecting by the computer-controlled player a fold action to terminate conduct of the game at the one or more decision nodes based, at least in part, on the calculated probability weights determined by the computer system and a determination not to select the at least one wagering action;
   producing the game outcome based on the selected at least one action of the computer controlled player, wherein the step of producing further comprises:
 determining which of the computer controlled player and the live player wins a poker game; and
 distributing at least a portion of a pot associated with the poker game to the live player if the live player wins the poker game.

         37 . The method of claim 36 further comprising generating the probability weights by the computer system responsive to multiple iterations of the game performed by agents controlled by the computer system.
