Abstract

Apparatus, methods, and computer-readable media for facilitating signaling of network coding information to facilitate feedback processing are disclosed herein. An example method for wireless communication at a transmitting device includes encoding data packets based on a first network coding and transmitting encoded data packets to a receiving device. The example method also includes receiving network coding information and determining a second network coding applied by the receiving device based on the network coding information. Additionally, the example method includes receiving feedback from the receiving device and decoding the encoded data packets based on the second network coding applied by the receiving device. Further, the example method includes updating the first network coding applied by the transmitting device based on the feedback and the decoding of the encoded data packets.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An apparatus for wireless communication at a base station, comprising:
 at least one memory; and   at least one processor coupled to the at least one memory and configured to cause the base station to:
 receive, from a transmitting device or a receiving device, a request to update network coding information for the wireless communication; and 
 transmit updated network coding information to at least one of the transmitting device or the receiving device in response to the request. 
   
     
     
         2 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the transmitting device is a first user equipment (UE) and the receiving device is a second UE. 
     
     
         3 . The apparatus of  claim 2 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to cause the base station to send one or more configurations for the updated network coding information to the transmitting device and the receiving device. 
     
     
         4 . The apparatus of  claim 2 , wherein to transmit the updated network coding information, the at least one processor is configured to transmit the updated network coding information to the transmitting device and the receiving device in response to at least one of the request from the transmitting device or the request from the receiving device. 
     
     
         5 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the transmitting device or the receiving device is a user equipment (UE) with which the base station exchanges encoded data packets, and the request is from the UE. 
     
     
         6 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the request is in uplink control information (UCI) or a medium access control-control element (MAC-CE) from the transmitting device or the receiving device. 
     
     
         7 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the updated network coding information includes one or more of:
 a network coding algorithm,   at least one network coding parameter,   a trigger to switch network coding algorithms, or   a time offset to the network coding algorithms.   
     
     
         8 . The apparatus of  claim 7 , wherein the updated network coding information includes the at least one network coding parameter, comprising one or more of:
 an encoding distribution function,   a decoding procedure,   a random seed number, or   a threshold number of interactions.   
     
     
         9 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein to transmit the updated network coding information, the at least one processor is configured to transmit the updated network coding information to the at least one of the transmitting device or the receiving device in at least one of:
 a radio resource control (RRC) configuration,   a medium access control-control element (MAC-CE), or   downlink control information (DCI).   
     
     
         10 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , further comprising at least one transceiver coupled to the at least one processor. 
     
     
         11 . An apparatus for wireless communication at a base station, comprising:
 at least one memory; and   at least one processor coupled to the at least one memory and configured to cause the base station to:
 determine a network coding performance below a threshold for exchanging encoded packets with a user equipment (UE) based on network coding; and 
 transmit updated network coding information to the UE in response to determining the network coding performance below the threshold. 
   
     
     
         12 . The apparatus of  claim 11 , wherein the network coding performance is determined for at least one of downlink transmissions to the UE or based on an uplink transmission from the UE. 
     
     
         13 . The apparatus of  claim 11 , wherein the updated network coding information includes one or more of:
 a network coding algorithm,   at least one network coding parameter,   a trigger to switch network coding algorithms, or   a time offset to the network coding algorithms.   
     
     
         14 . The apparatus of  claim 13 , wherein the updated network coding information includes the at least one network coding parameter, comprising one or more of:
 an encoding distribution function,   a decoding procedure,   a random seed number, or   a threshold number of interactions.   
     
     
         15 . The apparatus of  claim 11 , further comprising a transceiver coupled to the at least one processor. 
     
     
         16 . An apparatus for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE), comprising:
 at least one memory; and   at least one processor coupled to the at least one memory and configured to cause the UE to:   receive network coding information from a base station;   receive encoded data packets from a transmitting device;   transmit a request for a change in network coding parameters to the base station based on network coding performance being below a threshold; and   receive updated network coding information from the base station in response to the request.   
     
     
         17 . The apparatus of  claim 16 , wherein the request for the change is comprised in uplink control information (UCI) or a medium access control-control element (MAC-CE). 
     
     
         18 . The apparatus of  claim 16 , wherein the network coding performance is based on network decoding results of the UE. 
     
     
         19 . The apparatus of  claim 16 , wherein the updated network coding information includes one or more of:
 a network coding algorithm,   at least one network coding parameter,   a trigger to switch network coding algorithms, or   a time offset to the network coding algorithms.   
     
     
         20 . The apparatus of  claim 19 , wherein the updated network coding information includes the at least one network coding parameter, comprising one or more of:
 an encoding distribution function,   a decoding procedure,   a random seed number, or   a threshold number of interactions.   
     
     
         21 . The apparatus of  claim 16 , wherein the transmitting device comprises at least one of the base station or another UE. 
     
     
         22 . The apparatus of  claim 16 , further comprising a transceiver coupled to the at least one processor, wherein the UE is configured to receive the network coding information, transmit the request, and receive the updated network coding information via the transceiver. 
     
     
         23 . A method of wireless communication at a base station, comprising:
 receiving, from a transmitting device or a receiving device, a request to update network coding information for the wireless communication; and   transmitting updated network coding information to at least one of the transmitting device or the receiving device in response to the request.   
     
     
         24 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein the transmitting device is a first user equipment (UE) and the receiving device is a second UE. 
     
     
         25 . The method of  claim 24 , wherein one or more configurations for the updated network coding information is sent to the transmitting device and the receiving device. 
     
     
         26 . The method of  claim 24 , wherein the updated network coding information is transmitted to the transmitting device and the receiving device in response to at least one of the request from the transmitting device or the request from the receiving device. 
     
     
         27 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein the transmitting device or the receiving device is a user equipment (UE) exchanging encoded data packets with the base station, and the request is received from the UE. 
     
     
         28 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein the request is received in uplink control information (UCI) or a medium access control-control element (MAC-CE) from the transmitting device or the receiving device. 
     
     
         29 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein the updated network coding information includes one or more of:
 a network coding algorithm,   at least one network coding parameter,   a trigger to switch network coding algorithms, or   a time offset to the network coding algorithms.   
     
     
         30 . The method of  claim 29 , wherein the updated network coding information includes the at least one network coding parameter, comprising one or more of:
 an encoding distribution function,   a decoding procedure,   a random seed number, or   a threshold number of interactions.   
     
     
         31 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein the updated network coding information is transmitted to the at least one of the transmitting device or the receiving device in at least one of:
 a radio resource control (RRC) configuration,   a medium access control-control element (MAC-CE), or   downlink control information (DCI).
