Abstract

A sectional mattress assembly that is more easily flipped includes a plurality of mattress sections and a plurality of fasteners. Each mattress section has opposed faces and a sidewall and is substantially rectangular. Each fastener is attached to a respective sidewall, with the fasteners being selectively mutually engageable. The plurality of mattress sections is selectively and fixedly positionable in an assembled configuration, wherein the plurality of mattress sections comprises a complete mattress. Each mattress section is configured to be selectively rotated about a horizontal axis to effectively flip the complete mattress. Flipping the mattress sections individually is much easier relative to flipping a prior art, single section, mattress. Additionally, the mattress sections can be selectively repositioned in the complete mattress to optimize comfort and to increase an effective lifetime of the sectional mattress assembly.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A sectional mattress assembly comprising:
a plurality of mattress sections, each mattress section having opposed faces and a sidewall and being substantially rectangular; and a plurality of fasteners, each fastener being attached to a respective sidewall, the fasteners being selectively mutually engageable, such that the plurality of mattress sections is selectively and fixedly positionable in an assembled configuration, wherein the plurality of mattress sections are usable to form a complete mattress, wherein each mattress section is configured for being selectively rotated about a horizontal axis to effect flipping of the complete mattress; and piping attached to at least one side of a perimeter of each opposed face of each mattress section.

2 . The sectional mattress assembly of claim I, wherein each mattress section comprises:
a fabric case, and a resilient material positioned in the fabric case, such that the mattress section is resiliently compressible.

3 . The sectional mattress assembly of claim 2 , wherein the resilient material comprises one or more of cotton, foam rubber, and coiled springs.

4 . The sectional mattress assembly of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of fasteners comprises hook and loop connectors.

         5 . (canceled)

6 . The sectional mattress assembly of claim 1 , wherein the piping extends fully around the perimeter.

7 . The sectional mattress assembly of claim 1 , further including:
a fabric shell defining an interior space, the fabric shell having a top, the top being open, the interior space being complementary to the plurality of mattress sections, such that the plurality of mattress sections is selectively insertable into the fabric shell; and a mattress topper attached to or selectively attachable to the fabric shell, such that the mattress topper is positioned tier selectively closing the top.

8 . The sectional mattress assembly of claim 7 , further including a closure attached to the mattress topper and selectively attachable to the fabric shell for coupling the mattress topper to the fabric shell.

9 . The sectional mattress assembly of claim 8 , wherein the closure comprising a zipper.

         10 . (canceled)

         11 . A sectional mattress assembly comprising:
a plurality of mattress sections, each mattress section having opposed faces and a sidewall and being substantially rectangular, each mattress section comprising:
 a fabric case, and
 a resilient material positioned in the fabric case, such that the mattress section is resiliently compressible, the resilient material comprising one or more of cotton, foam rubber, and coiled springs;
a plurality of fasteners, each fastener being attached to a respective sidewall, the fasteners being selectively mutually engageable, such that the plurality of mattress sections is selectively and fixedly positionable in an assembled configuration, wherein the plurality of mattress sections are usable to form a complete mattress, wherein each mattress section is configured tor being selectively rotated about a horizontal axis to effect flipping of the complete mattress, the plurality of fasteners comprising hook and loop connectors; piping attached to at least one side of a perimeter of each opposed face of each mattress section, the piping extending fully around the perimeter; a fabric shell defining an interior space, the fabric shell having a top, the top being open, the interior space being complementary to the plurality of mattress sections, such that the plurality of mattress sections is selectively insertable into the fabric shell; a mattress topper attached to or selectively attachable to the fabric shell, such that the mattress topper is positioned for selectively closing the top; and a closure attached to the mattress topper and selectively attachable to the fabric shell for coupling the mattress topper to the fabric shell, the closure comprising a zipper.
