Abstract

Dermal delivery compositions are provided. Aspects of the dermal delivery compositions include the presence of active agent-calcium phosphate particle complexes, where these complexes include uniform, rigid, spherical nanoporous calcium phosphate particles associated with one or more active agents. Also provided are methods of using the compositions in active agent delivery applications.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
- 18 . (canceled)

. A method of delivering an active agent to a subject through the stratum corneum of the subject, the method comprising:
applying a topical composition comprising calcium phosphate and an active agent; to a topical region of the subject to deliver the active agent through the stratum corneum of the subject.

. The method according to claim 19 , wherein the calcium phosphate is described by the molecular formula Ca 10 (PO 4 )6(OH) 2 .

. The method according to claim 19 , wherein the calcium phosphate is present as calcium phosphate particles.

. The method according to claim 21 , wherein the calcium phosphate particles are uniform, rigid, and spherical.

. The method according to claim 22 , wherein the calcium phosphate particles are able to penetrate human skin.

. The method according to claim 19 , wherein the topical composition is a solution.

. The method according to claim 19 , wherein the topical composition is an emulsion.

. The method according to claim 19 , wherein the topical composition is a gel.

. The method according to claim 19 , wherein the topical composition is a lotion.

. The method according to claim 19 , wherein the topical composition is cream.

. The method according to claim 19 , wherein the topical composition is an ointment.

. The method according to claim 19 , wherein the topical composition is a spray.

. The method according to claim 19 , wherein the topical location is a keratinized skin surface.

. The method according to claim 31 , wherein the keratinized skin surface is a skin location selected from the group consisting of a location of a limb, torso and head.

. The method according to claim 32 , wherein the location is a location of a limb.

. The method according to claim 33 , wherein the location is a location of an arm, hand, leg or foot.

. The method according to claim 33 , wherein the location is a location of a torso.

. The method according to claim 35 , wherein the location is a location of a chest, back or stomach.

. The method according to claim 32 , wherein the location is a location of a head.

. The method according to claim 37 , wherein the location is a location of a neck or face.
