Abstract

The present application relates to beta-1,3-glucan and uses thereof to modulate immunity in the human body. Also provided are methods for treatment and/or prevention of high cholesterol, diabetes, and allergies. Also provided are methods for treatment and/or prevention of intestinal inflammation.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method of treating a condition selected from the group consisting of hyperlipidemia, metabolic syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, colitis, Crohn's disease, and colon cancer in a human with said condition, the method comprising orally administering to the human an effective amount of a composition comprising beta-1,3-glucan from  Euglena  grown using fermentation.
