Abstract

In a preferred embodiment a wheeled platform apparatus and method for use in rolling on a surface are provided. The apparatus includes a platform having a top surface, a bottom surface, a front portion, a center portion, a rear portion, and a first wheel and a second wheel that interface with or are positioned below the bottom surface of the platform to facilitate rolling movement of the platform. The apparatus may further include an attachment device interfacing with the top surface and the footwear, as well as a footrest to support the forefoot of another foot, or footwear.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A foldable wheeled platform apparatus configured to be placed in a rolling state for rolling and a nested state for storage, the foldable wheeled platform apparatus configured when in the rolling state to transport a rider across a surface while the rider has at least a portion of a front foot of the rider positioned on the foldable wheeled platform apparatus, the foldable wheeled platform apparatus comprising:
 a platform that includes a first piece and a second piece, the platform having an upper surface, a bottom surface, a front portion, a back portion, a right side, and a left side, wherein the first piece of the platform includes at least a portion of the front portion of the platform, and the second piece of the platform includes at least a portion of the back portion of the platform.   wherein the platform further includes a first wheel recess in the bottom surface of the first piece of the platform, and a second wheel recess in the bottom surface of the second piece of the platform;   a first wheel positioned adjacent the bottom surface and the front portion of the platform, and at least partially in the first wheel recess in the bottom surface of the first piece of the platform, wherein the first wheel is configured to at least partially rotate in the first wheel recess when the foldable wheeled platform is in the rolling state;   wherein the first wheel recess has one or more surfaces positioned adjacent the first wheel and substantially surrounds at least a portion of the first wheel;   a second wheel positioned adjacent the bottom surface and the back portion of the platform, and at least partially in the second wheel recess in the bottom surface of the second piece of the platform, wherein the second wheel is configured to at least partially rotate in the second wheel recess when the foldable wheeled platform is in the rolling state;   wherein the second wheel recess has one or more surfaces positioned adjacent the second wheel and substantially surrounds at least a portion of the second wheel;   a hinge configured between the first piece and the second piece of the platform to provide hinged rotation between the first piece and the second piece of the platform, and the hinge configured to place the foldable wheeled platform in the rolling state when the hinge is in a first position, and to place the foldable wheeled platform in the nested state when the hinge is in a second position;   a first storage recess provided at least partially in the bottom surface of the second piece of the platform, the first storage recess configured to surround a portion of the first wheel when the foldable wheeled platform is in the nested state;   a second storage recess provided at least partially in the bottom surface of the first piece of the platform, the second storage recess configured to surround a portion of the second wheel when the foldable wheeled platform is in the nested state;   wherein the foldable wheeled platform apparatus, when in the rolling state, is configured to have at least a portion of the front foot of the rider positioned on the upper surface of the platform at the front portion of the platform above the first wheel while at least a portion of the front foot of the rider may be positioned off the upper surface of the platform while transporting the rider while the foldable wheeled platform is in the rolling state; and   wherein the foldable wheeled platform apparatus is configured to be placed in the nested state using the hinge to position at least a portion of the first wheel in the first storage recess of the second piece of the platform, and to position at least a portion of the second wheel in the second storage recess of the first piece of the platform.   
     
     
         2 . The foldable wheeled platform apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the first wheel, the second wheel, and the third wheel rotate primarily below the bottom surface of the platform. 
     
     
         3 . The foldable wheeled platform apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the back foot location indicator adjacent the upper surface and the back portion of the platform includes one or more from the group consisting of a graphic, a drawing, a raised area, and a depressed area. 
     
     
         4 . The foldable wheeled platform apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the foldable wheeled platform apparatus is configured to have a portion of a back foot of the rider positioned on the upper surface of the platform at the back portion of the platform while transporting the rider, and further comprising:
 a heel brake positioned adjacent the bottom surface of the platform and the back portion of the platform to contact the surface when the back foot of the rider is pushed down to contact at least a portion of the heel brake on the surface.   
     
     
         5 . The foldable wheeled platform apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the first wheel and the second wheel are positioned substantially in line with one another and at least partially below the bottom surface of the platform. 
     
     
         6 . The foldable wheeled platform apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein at least two wheels are positioned side-by-side across a width of the bottom portion of the platform and at least partially below the bottom surface of the platform. 
     
     
         7 . The foldable wheeled platform apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first recess and the second recess extends from the bottom surface of the platform through to the upper surface of the platform. 
     
     
         8 . The foldable wheeled platform apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the two pieces of the platform have about the same area on their upper surfaces. 
     
     
         9 . The foldable wheeled platform apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the first piece and the second piece of the platform are positioned parallel to one another when the foldable wheeled platform apparatus is positioned in the nested state. 
     
     
         10 . A foldable wheeled platform configured to be placed in a riding state and a folded state, the foldable wheeled platform configured to transport a rider across a surface while the foldable wheeled platform is in the riding state while the rider has at least a portion of a front foot of the rider positioned on the foldable wheeled platform, the foldable wheeled platform comprising:
 a platform that includes at least a first piece and a second piece, the platform having an upper surface, a bottom surface, a front portion, a back portion, a right side, and a left side, wherein the first piece of the platform includes at least a portion of the front portion of the platform, and the second piece of the platform includes at least a portion of the back portion of the platform, wherein the platform further includes a first wheel recess in the bottom surface of the first piece of the platform, a second wheel recess in the bottom surface of the first piece of the platform, a third wheel recess in the bottom surface of the second piece of the platform, and a fourth wheel recess in the bottom surface of the second piece of the platform, wherein the platform also includes a first storage recess and a second storage recess provided at least partially in the bottom surface of the second piece of the platform, and a third storage recess and a fourth storage recess provided at least partially in the bottom surface of the first piece of the platform;   a first wheel positioned at least partially adjacent the bottom surface and the front portion of the platform, wherein the first wheel is configured to at least partially rotate in the first wheel recess when the foldable wheeled platform is in the riding state;   a second wheel positioned at least partially adjacent the bottom surface and the front portion of the platform, and adjacent the first wheel, wherein the second wheel is configured to at least partially rotate in the second wheel recess when the foldable wheeled platform is in the riding state;   a third wheel positioned at least partially adjacent the bottom surface and the back portion of the platform, wherein the third wheel is configured to at least partially rotate in the third wheel recess when the foldable wheeled platform is in the riding state;   a fourth wheel positioned at least partially adjacent the bottom surface and the back portion of the platform, and adjacent the third wheel, wherein the fourth wheel is configured to at least partially rotate in the fourth wheel recess when the foldable wheeled platform is in the riding state;   a hinge configured between the first piece and the second piece of the platform to provide hinged rotation between the two pieces of the platform;   wherein the foldable wheeled platform is configured when in the riding state to have at least a portion of the front foot of the rider positioned on the upper surface of the platform at the front portion of the platform while at least a portion of a forefoot of the front foot of the rider may be positioned off the upper surface of the platform while transporting the rider; and   wherein the foldable wheeled platform is configured to be placed in a folded state using the hinge to position at least a portion of the first wheel in at least a portion of the first storage recess, to position at least a portion of the second wheel in at least a portion of the second storage recess, to position at least a portion of the third wheel in at least a portion of the third storage recess, and to position at least a portion of the fourth wheel in at least a portion of the fourth storage recess.   
     
     
         11 . The wheeled platform apparatus of  claim 10 , wherein one or more of the first recess, the second recess and the third recess extend from the bottom surface of the platform through to the upper surface of the platform. 
     
     
         12 . The foldable wheeled platform of  claim 10 , wherein the first wheel and the second wheel rotate primarily below the bottom surface of the platform. 
     
     
         13 . The foldable wheeled platform of  claim 10 , wherein the first wheel and the second wheel rotate at least partially adjacent one of the left side of the platform and the right side of the platform. 
     
     
         14 . The foldable wheeled platform apparatus of  claim 10 , wherein the foldable wheeled platform apparatus is configured to have a portion of a back foot of the rider positioned on the upper surface of the platform at the back portion of the platform while transporting the rider in the riding state, and further comprising:
 a heel brake positioned adjacent the bottom surface of the platform and the back portion of the platform to contact the surface when the back foot of the rider is pushed down to contact at least a portion of the heel brake onto the surface.   
     
     
         15 . The foldable wheeled platform of  claim 10 , wherein the first wheel and the second wheel are positioned substantially in line with one another and at least partially below the bottom surface of the platform. 
     
     
         16 . The foldable wheeled platform apparatus of  claim 10 , further comprising one or more wheels positioned side-by-side with the second wheel and across a width of the bottom portion of the platform and at least partially below the bottom surface of the platform. 
     
     
         17 . The foldable wheeled platform apparatus of  claim 10 , further comprising one or more wheels positioned side-by-side with the first wheel and across a width of the front portion of the platform and at least partially below the bottom surface of the platform. 
     
     
         18 . A wheeled platform apparatus configured to transport a rider across a surface in a riding state while the rider has at least a portion of a front foot positioned on the wheeled platform apparatus, the wheeled platform apparatus comprising:
 a platform having a front piece and back piece, the platform having an upper surface, a bottom surface, a front portion, a back portion, a right side, and a left side;   a first wheel positioned at least partially adjacent the bottom surface and the front portion of the platform;   a second wheel positioned at least partially adjacent the bottom surface and the back portion of the platform;   wherein the first wheel is adjacent the front portion of the platform and second wheel is adjacent the back portion of the platform and when placed on a flat surface are on the same plane,   wherein a third wheel is adjacent the left side of the platform and of a smaller diameter or further recessed into the platform so the third wheel is positioned on a different rotatable plane allowing the first wheel and second wheel to be engaged in a rolling manner independent of the third wheel however by tilting the platform to the left side can engage the first wheel, second wheel and third wheel in a rolling manner,   wherein a fourth wheel is adjacent the right side of the platform and of a smaller diameter or further recessed into the platform so the fourth wheel is positioned on a different rotatable plane allowing the first wheel and second wheel to be engaged in a rolling manner independent of the fourth wheel however by tilting the platform to the right side can engage the first wheel, second wheel and fourth wheel in a rolling manner,   
     
     
         19 . The wheeled platform of  claim 19 , wherein the third wheel and the fourth wheel are the same or similar diameter to the first wheel and the second wheel. The left side of the platform and right side of the platform are formed in a manner such that a different rotational plane is created. 
     
     
         20 . led platform of  claim 19 , wherein the third wheel and the fourth wheel can also use a hinged connection joining a first front portion and a back portion.
