Systems and methods to auto download applications from a website based on user context
Abstract
Systems and methods for temporarily downloading an application program from a website are disclosed herein. The website provides a feature set corresponding to an anticipated user activity and a downloadable application program. The anticipated user activity is identified based on user data corresponding to future activities of a user. A correspondence between the anticipated user activity and the website is determined and the application program is retrieved from the website and installed on the user device. In response to detecting absence of a user interaction with the application program on the user device within a predefined time period, the application program is automatically uninstalled from the user device.

21 . A computer-implemented method, comprising:
identifying an anticipated user activity based on user data corresponding to future activities of a user; searching a plurality of websites corresponding to the anticipated user activity to identify an initial website, wherein the initial website provides a feature set corresponding to the anticipated user activity and a downloadable application program; determining if an application program download restriction message is present; and in response to determining that an application program download restriction message is not present, causing the application program to be automatically installed at a user device.
22 . The method of claim 21 , further comprising:
in response to determining that an application program download restriction message is present, identifying an alternative website from the plurality of websites, wherein the alternative website provides a feature set corresponding to the anticipated user activity and a downloadable alternative application program; and causing the alternative application program to be automatically installed at the user device.
23 . The method of claim 21 , further comprising:
in response to detecting an absence of user interaction with the application program on the user device within a predefined time period, automatically uninstalling the application program from the user device.
24 . The method of claim 23 , further comprising:
determining the predefined time period based on a content type of the initial website.
25 . The method of claim 21 , wherein:
a ranked order of the plurality of websites is determined based on a number of strings matching the anticipated user activity or based on a number of times each of the plurality of websites were previously accessed by the user; and the method further comprises identifying the initial website based on the ranked order of the plurality of websites.
26 . The method of claim 21 , wherein determining a correspondence between the anticipated user activity and the initial website is based on a natural language string search.
27 . The method of claim 21 , wherein identifying the anticipated user activity is performed based on user data, and the user data is generated from a plurality of datasets, wherein each dataset is from a distinct user account.
28 . The method of claim 21 , further comprising:
determining the anticipated user activity has ended; determining whether the application program is still installed on the user device when the anticipated user activity has ended; and in response to determining the application program is still installed on the user device when the anticipated user activity has ended, causing the application program to be uninstalled from the user device.
29 . The method of claim 21 , further comprising automatically uninstalling the downloadable application program from the user device in response to a user reaction or a detected application program content change.
30 . The method of claim 21 , wherein identifying the anticipated user activity is based on analyzing one or more of user preference data, e-mail data, text message data, image data, social media data or calendar data associated with the user data.
31 . A computer-implemented system comprising:
memory; and control circuitry configured to:
identify an anticipated user activity based on user data corresponding to future activities of a user;
search a plurality of websites corresponding to the anticipated user activity to identify an initial website, wherein the initial website provides a feature set corresponding to the anticipated user activity and a downloadable application program;
determine if an application program download restriction message is present; and
in response to determining that an application program download restriction message is not present, cause the application program to be automatically installed at a user device.
32 . The system of claim 31 , wherein the control circuitry is configured to:
in response to determining that an application program download restriction message is present, identify an alternative website from the plurality of websites, wherein the alternative website provides a feature set corresponding to the anticipated user activity and a downloadable alternative application program; and causing the alternative application program to be automatically installed at the user device.
33 . The system of claim 31 , wherein the control circuitry is configured to:
in response to detecting an absence of user interaction with the application program on the user device within a predefined time period, automatically uninstall the application program from the user device.
34 . The system of claim 33 , wherein the control circuitry is configured to:
determine the predefined time period based on a content type of the initial website.
35 . The system of claim 31 , wherein:
a ranked order of the plurality of websites is determined based on a number of strings matching the anticipated user activity or based on a number of times each of the plurality of websites were previously accessed by the user; and wherein the control circuitry is configured to identify the initial website based on the ranked order of the plurality of websites.
36 . The system of claim 31 , wherein determining a correspondence between the anticipated user activity and the initial website is based on a natural language string search.
37 . The system of claim 31 , wherein identifying the anticipated user activity is performed based on user data, and the user data is generated from a plurality of datasets, wherein each dataset is from a distinct user account.
38 . The system of claim 31 , wherein the control circuitry is configured to:
determine the anticipated user activity has ended; determine whether the application program is still installed on the user device when the anticipated user activity has ended; and in response to determining the application program is still installed on the user device when the anticipated user activity has ended, cause the application program to be uninstalled from the user device.
39 . The system of claim 31 , wherein the control circuitry is configured to automatically uninstall the downloadable application program from the user device in response to a user reaction or a detected application program content change.
