Systems and methods for dynamic connection management
Abstract
Provided are methods and systems for dynamic connection management. The method can comprise establishing a persistent connection with a web service, receiving a notification of a request for a communication session with a computing device via the web service, registering with a communication processing system to receive the request for the communication session, and establishing the communication session with the computing device via the communication processing system. When the communication session ends, the user device can be deregistered and free up the resources on the computing device.

receiving, by a computing device and from a first user device, a request for a first communication session with a second user device; generating, based on the request for the first communication session, a message; and causing the message to be sent to the second user device via a second communication session, wherein the message causes the first user device to register to engage in the first communication session.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein causing the message to be sent to the second user device via the second communication session comprises sending, to a presence system, the message.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the message comprises an indication of a capability of the first user device.
4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving, from the second user device via a communication processing system, a registration request; and sending, to the second user device, an invitation to the first communication session, wherein acceptance of the invitation by the second user device causes the second user device to engage in the first communication session.
5 . The method of 4 , further comprising:
receiving, from the second user device, an acceptance of the invitation to the first communication session; and establishing the first communication session between the first user device and the second user device.
6 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the registration request comprises location information for the second user device.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first communication session comprises one or more of an internet telephone call, a multimedia distribution, a multimedia conference, or a presentation.
8 . A method comprising:
receiving, by a computing device and from a first user device, a request for a first communication session with a second user device; receiving, from the second user device via a communication processing system and based on the request for the first communication session, a registration request; and sending, to the second user device, an invitation to the first communication session, wherein acceptance of the invitation by the second user device causes the second user device to engage in the first communication session.
9 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:
generating, based on the request for the first communication session, a message; and causing the message to be sent to the second user device via a second communication session, wherein the message causes the first user device to register to receive the request for the first communication session.
10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the message comprises an indication of a capability of the first user device.
11 . The method of 8 , further comprising:
receiving, from the second user device, an acceptance of the invitation to the first communication session; and establishing the first communication session between the first user device and the second user device.
12 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the registration request comprises location information for the second user device.
13 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the first communication session comprises one or more of an internet telephone call, a multimedia distribution, a multimedia conference, or a presentation.
14 . One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing processor-executable instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:
receive, from a first user device, a request for a first communication session with a second user device; generate, based on the request for the first communication session, a message; and causing the message to be sent to the second user device via a second communication session, wherein the message causes the first user device to register to engage in the first communication session.
15 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 14 , wherein the processor-executable instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to cause the message to be sent to the second user device via the second communication session, cause the at least one processor to send, to a presence system, the message.
16 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 14 , wherein the message comprises an indication of a capability of the first user device.
17 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 14 , wherein the processor-executable instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the at least one processor to:
receive, from the second user device via a communication processing system, a registration request; and send, to the second user device, an invitation to the first communication session, wherein an acceptance of the invitation by the second user device causes the second user device to engage in the first communication session.
18 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 17 , wherein the processor-executable instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the at least one processor to:
receive, from the second user device, the acceptance of the invitation to the first communication session; and establish the first communication session between the first user device and the second user device.
19 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 17 , wherein the registration request comprises location information for the second user device.
20 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 14 , wherein the first communication session comprises one or more of an internet telephone call, a multimedia distribution, a multimedia conference, or a presentation.
21 . A system comprising:
a computing device configured to:
receive, from a first user device, a request for a first communication session with a second user device;
generate, based on the request for the first communication session, a message; and
causing the message to be sent to the second user device via a second communication session, wherein the message causes the first user device to register to engage in the first communication session;
the first user device configured to:
send the request for the first communication session; and
the second user device configured to:
receive the message.
22 . The system of claim 21 , wherein to cause the message to be sent to the second user device via the second communication session, the computing device is configured to send, to a presence system, the message.
23 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the message comprises an indication of a capability of the first user device.
24 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the computing device is further configured to:
receive, from the second user device via a communication processing system, a registration request; and send, to the second user device, an invitation to the first communication session, wherein an acceptance of the invitation by the second user device causes the second user device to engage in the first communication session.
25 . The system of claim 24 , wherein the computing device is further configured to:
receive, from the second user device, the acceptance of the invitation to the first communication session; and establish the first communication session between the first user device and the second user device.
26 . The system of claim 24 , wherein the registration request comprises location information for the second user device.
