Abstract

A system for adapting to topology changes in a proxy is described. The system includes a processor and a memory coupled to the processor and configured to provide the processor with instructions. The processor is configured to intercept a plurality of communications and match a communication signature for a topology update in a communication. The processor is further configured to identify topology update information in the communication and update listener(s) based on the topology update information. The processor also translates the topology update information and sends the translated topology information to a client.

a memory coupled to the processor and configured to provide the processor with instructions.

3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein to update the at least one listener, the processor is further configured to:
add a listener on a port for a new node identified in the topology update information, the translated topology information including an address for the listener for communicating with the new node.

4 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the processor is configured to add the listener before sending the translated topology information to the client.

5 . The system of claim 2 , wherein to update the at least one listener, the processor is further configured to:
delete an existing listener for a removed node that is removed from the topology update information.

6 . The system of claim 5 , wherein the processor is configured to remove the existing listener before sending the translated topology information to the client.

7 . The system of claim 2 , wherein to intercept the plurality of communications, the processor is further configured to:
identify a topology connection based on the matching of the communication signature; and intercept a plurality of topology communications on the topology connection.

8 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the processor is further configured to:
provide a data connection separate from the topology connection.

9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the processor is configured to:
provide the topology communications for the topology connection from an OSI Layer 4 data agnostic dispatcher to an OSI Layer 7 topology service; perform the match, identify, update and translate by the OSI Layer 7 topology service; and provide data communications for the data connection from the OSI Layer 4 data agnostic dispatcher to an OSI Layer 7 data service.

10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the OSI Layer 4 data agnostic dispatcher operates only in step mode for the topology connection.

11 . A method of adapting to topology changes in a proxy, comprising:
intercepting a plurality of communications; matching a communication signature for a topology connection in a communication of the plurality of communications; intercepting topology communications on the topology connection; identifying topology update information in the topology communications; updating at least one listener based on the topology update information; translating the topology update information; and sending translated topology information to a client.

12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the updating of the at least one listener comprises:
adding a listener on a port for a new node identified in the topology update information, the translated topology information including an address for the listener for communicating with the new node.

13 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising:
adding the listener before sending the translated topology information to the client.

14 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the updating of the at least one listener comprises:
deleting an existing listener for a removed node that is removed from the topology update information.

15 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising:
removing the existing listener before sending the translated topology information to the client.

16 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the intercepting of the plurality of communications comprises:
identifying a topology connection based on the matching of the communication signature; and intercepting a plurality of topology communications on the topology connection.

17 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising:
providing a data connection separate from the topology connection.

18 . The method of claim 17 , further comprising:
providing the topology communications for the topology connection from an OSI Layer 4 data agnostic dispatcher to an OSI Layer 7 topology service; performing the match, identify, update and translate by the OSI Layer 7 topology service; and providing data communications for the data connection from the OSI Layer 4 data agnostic dispatcher to an OSI Layer 7 data service.
