Abstract

An aerosol generation device having a smokeless function and an aerosol-generating article used therewith are provided. The aerosol-generating article according to some embodiments of the present disclosure may include a tobacco rod which includes a first filter segment, a second filter segment, and a cavity segment. Here, the cavity segment may be filled with tobacco granules. Since content of moisture and/or content of an aerosol-forming agent in the tobacco granules is lower than that in other types of tobacco materials, generation of visible smoke can be significantly reduced. Also, accordingly, the smokeless function of the aerosol generation device can be easily implemented.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . An aerosol-generating article that is used with an aerosol generation device, the aerosol-generating article comprising:
a tobacco rod comprising a first filter segment, a second filter segment, and a cavity segment formed by the first filter segment and the second filter segment, and wherein the cavity segment is filled with tobacco granules.

2 . The aerosol-generating article of claim 1 , wherein the aerosol generation device has a smokeless function.

3 . The aerosol-generating article of claim 1 , further comprising a filter rod which is disposed downstream of the tobacco rod,
wherein the filter rod includes a cooling segment and a mouthpiece segment.

4 . The aerosol-generating article of claim 1 , wherein the tobacco granules include moisture of 10 wt % or lower.

5 . The aerosol-generating article of claim 1 , wherein the tobacco granules do not include an aerosol-forming agent or include the aerosol-forming agent of 3 wt % or lower.

6 . The aerosol-generating article of claim 1 , wherein the first filter segment is disposed downstream of the cavity segment and includes a paper material.

         7 . The aerosol-generating article of claim 1 , wherein:
a filling rate of the tobacco granules in the cavity segment is 80 vol % or lower; a density of the tobacco granules is in a range of 0.5 g/cm 3 to 1.2 g/cm 3 ; a diameter of the tobacco granules is in a range of 0.3 mm to 1.2 mm; and resistance to draw of the first filter segment disposed downstream of the cavity segment is in a range of 50 mmH 2 O/60 mm to 150 mmH 2 O/60 mm.

8 . An aerosol generation device comprising:
a housing configured to form an accommodation space for accommodating an aerosol-generating article; and a heater part configured to heat the aerosol-generating article accommodated in the accommodation space, wherein the aerosol-generating article includes a tobacco rod, which includes a cavity segment, and a filter rod, and the cavity segment is filled with tobacco granules.

9 . The aerosol generation device of claim 8 , wherein a heating temperature of the heater part is 270° C. or lower.

10 . The aerosol generation device of claim 8 , further comprising:
a cartridge configured to store an aerosol-forming agent; a cartridge heater part configured to heat the cartridge; and a controller configured to control the aerosol generation device to operate in a set mode selected between a smokeless mode and a smoking mode.

11 . The aerosol generation device of claim 10 , wherein, in response to determination that the set mode is the smokeless mode, the controller operates only the heater part without operating the cartridge heater part.

12 . The aerosol generation device of claim 10 , wherein, in response to determination that the set mode is the smoking mode, the controller operates both the heater part and the cartridge heater part or operates only the cartridge heater part.

13 . The aerosol generation device of claim 10 , wherein:
in response to determination that the set mode is the smokeless mode, the controller operates the heater part at a first heating temperature; and in response to determination that the set mode is the smoking mode, the controller operates both the heater part and the cartridge heater part, wherein the heater part is operated at a second heating temperature which is lower than the first heating temperature.
