Abstract
An illustrative fraud deterrent method includes presenting an identity verification option for a first website displayed in a web-browser, the option including offering a login to a third-party website, unrelated to the first website. The method further includes receiving login information for a first user account on the third-party website and verifying the login information through a verification service associated with the third-party website, to verify that the login information is valid for the first user account, identified by the login information. The method additionally includes verifying an identity at the first website, responsive to the verification.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method comprising:
defining a conceptual password for accessing a secure account, the conceptual password defining one or more rules for selecting items from a set containing items to which the rules are to be applied; receiving an access request and responsively presenting the set; receiving selection of one or more items of the set; determine that the selection of items of the set is complete; determine if the selection of items satisfies the rule; and responsive to the selection of items satisfying the rule, allow the access request to progress to a next stage.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one rule defines an order in which items from the set are to be selected for the selection of items to satisfy the rule.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one rule defines a characteristic to be possessed by selected items from the set for the selection of items to satisfy the rule.
4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the set includes images and the characteristic is a characteristic of one or more images of the set.
5 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the set includes text and the characteristic is a characteristic of one or more groups of text of the set.
6 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the set includes videos and the characteristic is one or more aspects represented in one or more of the videos of the set.
7 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the set includes items defined by a user to whom the conceptual password applies.
8 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the characteristic is an immutable characteristic of the selected items.
9 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the characteristic is a subjective characteristic of the selected items, and wherein items having the subjective characteristic are predefined in advance as at least part of a predefined solution set.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more rules are interrelated through use of Boolean operators.
11 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed, cause a processor to perform a method comprising:
defining a conceptual password for accessing a secure account, the conceptual password defining one or more rules for selecting items from a set containing items to which the rules are to be applied; receiving an access request and responsively presenting the set; receiving selection of one or more items of the set; determine that the selection of items of the set is complete; determine if the selection of items satisfies the rule; and responsive to the selection of items satisfying the rule, allow the access request to progress to a next stage.
12 . The storage medium of claim 11 , wherein at least one rule defines an order in which items from the set are to be selected for the selection of items to satisfy the rule.
13 . The storage medium of claim 11 , wherein at least one rule defines a characteristic to be possessed by selected items from the set for the selection of items to satisfy the rule.
14 . The storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the set includes images and the characteristic is a characteristic of one or more images of the set.
15 . The storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the set includes text and the characteristic is a characteristic of one or more groups of text of the set.
16 . The storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the set includes videos and the characteristic is one or more aspects represented in one or more of the videos of the set.
17 . The storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the set includes items defined by a user to whom the conceptual password applies.
18 . The storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the characteristic is an immutable characteristic of the selected items.
19 . The storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the characteristic is a subjective characteristic of the selected items, and wherein items having the subjective characteristic are predefined in advance as at least part of a predefined solution set.
20 . The storage medium of claim 11 , wherein the one or more rules are interrelated through use of Boolean operators.
21 . A system comprising:
one or more processors configured to: receive and store definition of a conceptual password for accessing a secure account, the conceptual password defining one or more rules for selecting items from a set containing items to which the rules are to be applied; receive an access request and responsively present the set; receive selection of one or more items of the set; determine that the selection of items of the set is complete; determine if the selection of items satisfies the rule; and responsive to the selection of items satisfying the rule, allow the access request to progress to a next stage.
22 . The system of claim 21 , wherein at least one rule defines an order in which items from the set are to be selected for the selection of items to satisfy the rule.
23 . The system of claim 21 , wherein at least one rule defines a characteristic to be possessed by selected items from the set for the selection of items to satisfy the rule.
24 . The system of claim 23 , wherein the set includes images and the characteristic is a characteristic of one or more images of the set.
25 . The system of claim 23 , wherein the set includes text and the characteristic is a characteristic of one or more groups of text of the set.
26 . The system of claim 23 , wherein the set includes videos and the characteristic is one or more aspects represented in one or more of the videos of the set.
27 . The system of claim 23 , wherein the set includes items defined by a user to whom the conceptual password applies.
28 . The system of claim 23 , wherein the characteristic is an immutable characteristic of the selected items.
29 . The system of claim 23 , wherein the characteristic is a subjective characteristic of the selected items, and wherein items having the subjective characteristic are predefined in advance as at least part of a predefined solution set.
30 . A method comprising:
defining a conceptual password for accessing a secure account, the conceptual password defining one or more rules for selecting items from a randomly generated sample set, including at least a plurality of items, less than all items within the set of items for the user-defined solution set, containing items that comport with the one or more rules; receiving an access request and responsively presenting the set; receiving selection of one or more items of the set; determine that the selection of items of the set is complete; determine if the selection of items satisfies the rule; and responsive to the selection of items satisfying the rule, allow the access request to progress to a next stage.Cited by (0)
