Abstract

One embodiment provides an adapter for configuring device settings of a gas engine replacement device. The adapter includes a transceiver, a user interface, and an electronic processor. The electronic processor is configured to connect the adapter to the gas engine replacement device and generate a graphical user interface showing a plurality of configurable device settings. The electronic processor is also configured to receive user input to choose one or more device settings to configure and receive user input to configure the one or more device setting chosen and generate changed device settings. The electronic processor is also configured to transmit the changed device settings to the gas engine replacement device. The gas engine replacement device is then used to drive power equipment in accordance with the changed device settings.

         21 . An adapter for configuring device settings of a gas engine replacement device, the adapter comprising:
 a user interface; and   an electronic processor coupled to the user interface and configured to:
 establish communication with the gas engine replacement device, 
 generate, on the user interface, a graphical user interface including one or more configurable device settings for the gas engine replacement device, 
 receive a user input, via the user interface, configuring at least one of the one or more configurable device settings, 
 generate changed device settings for the gas engine replacement device based on the user input, and 
 enable an operation of the gas engine replacement device in accordance with the changed device settings. 
   
     
     
         22 . The adapter of  claim 21 , wherein the electronic processor is further configured to:
 receive, via the user interface, a login credential for a user, and   authenticate the login credential,   wherein the electronic processor is configured to generate the graphical user interface in response to authenticating the login credential for the user.   
     
     
         23 . The adapter of  claim 22 , further comprising a transceiver coupled to the electronic processor, wherein the electronic processor is configured to authenticate the login credential by communicating with a server via the transceiver and wherein the one or more configurable device settings are settings permitted to be configured by the user based on the login credential. 
     
     
         24 . The adapter of  claim 21 , wherein the electronic processor is further configured to:
 receive, via the user interface, a first login credential for a first user, and   receive, via the user interface, a second login credential for a second user,   wherein the electronic processor is configured to generate the graphical user interface in response to receiving the first login credential by generating the graphical user interface with a first selection of at least one of the one or more configurable device settings enabled, and   wherein the electronic processor is configured to generate the graphical user interface in response to receiving the second login credential by generating the graphical user interface with a second selection of at least one of the one or more configurable device settings enabled, wherein the second selection is different than the first selection.   
     
     
         25 . The adapter of  claim 21 , wherein the electronic processor is configured to enable the operation of the gas engine replacement device in accordance with the changed device settings by communicating the changed device settings to the gas engine replacement device, wherein the gas engine replacement device drives power equipment in accordance with the communicated changed device settings. 
     
     
         26 . The adapter of  claim 25 , further comprising a transceiver coupled to the electronic processor, wherein the electronic processor is configured to transmit the changed device settings to the gas engine replacement device via the transceiver. 
     
     
         27 . The adapter of  claim 21 , wherein the one or more configurable device settings include at least one selected from a group consisting of a motor speed, a motor control performance, a thermal overload, a current limit, a motor overshoot, a motor undershoot, a motor steady state, and a product interface. 
     
     
         28 . The adapter of  claim 21 , wherein the changed device settings include at least one selected from a group consisting of a maximum speed setting of a motor of the gas engine replacement device, a minimum speed setting of the motor, an overvoltage setting of the motor, an overcurrent setting for the motor, an over-temperature setting for the motor, and a speed control algorithm for the motor. 
     
     
         29 . The adapter of  claim 28 , wherein the speed control algorithm includes a speed profile defining a rate of change of a speed of the motor. 
     
     
         30 . An adapter system comprising:
 a gas engine replacement device; and   an adapter for configuring device settings of the gas engine replacement device, the adapter including:
 a user interface, and 
 an electronic processor coupled to the user interface, the electronic processor configured to:
 establish communication with the gas engine replacement device, 
 receive, via the user interface, a login credential for a user, 
 determine, based on the login credential for the user, one or more configurable device settings enabled for the user, 
 generate, on the user interface, a graphical user interface including the one or more configurable device settings for the gas engine replacement device, 
 receive, via the user interface, a user input configuring at least one of the one or more configurable device settings, 
 generate changed device settings based on the user input, and transmit the changed device settings to the gas engine replacement device, 
 
 wherein the gas engine replacement device is used to drive power equipment in accordance with the changed device settings. 
   
     
     
         31 . The adapter system of  claim 30 , wherein the login credential for the user is a first login credential for a first user and the one or more configurable device settings enabled for the first user include a first set of one or more configurable device settings, wherein the electronic processor is further configured to:
 receive, via the user interface, a second login credential for a second user,   determine, based on the second login credential for the second user, a second set of one or more configurable device settings enabled for the second user, and   generate, on the user interface, the graphical user interface including the second set of one or more configurable device settings,   wherein the first set of one or more configurable device settings is different than the second set of one or more configurable device settings.   
     
     
         32 . The adapter system of  claim 30 , the adapter further comprising:
 a transceiver coupled to the electronic processor,   wherein the electronic processor is configured to determine the one or more configurable device settings enabled for the user by transmitting the login credential for the user to a server via the transceiver.   
     
     
         33 . The adapter system of  claim 30 , wherein the one or more configurable device settings for the gas engine replacement device include at least one selected from a group consisting of a motor speed, a motor performance control, a thermal overload, a current limit, a motor overshoot, a motor undershoot, a motor steady state, and a product interface.

The adapter system of  claim 30 , wherein the changed device settings include at least one selected from a group consisting of a maximum speed setting of a motor of the gas engine replacement device, a minimum speed setting of the motor, an overvoltage setting of the motor, an overcurrent setting for the motor, an over-temperature setting for the motor, and a speed control algorithm for the motor. 
     
     
         35 . The adapter system of  claim 34 , wherein the speed control algorithm includes a speed profile defining a rate of change of a speed of the motor. 
     
     
         36 . A method for configuring device settings of a gas engine replacement device using an adapter, the method comprising:
 establishing, with an electronic processor included in the adapter, communication with the gas engine replacement device;   generating, with the electronic processor, a graphical user interface including one or more configurable device settings for the gas engine replacement device;   providing the graphical user interface on a user interface of the adapter;   receiving, with the electronic processor via the user interface, a user input via configuring at least one of the one or more configurable device settings;   generating, with the electronic processor, changed device settings for the gas engine replacement device based on the user input; and   communicating, with the electronic processor, the changed device settings to the gas engine replacement device.   
     
     
         37 . The method of  claim 36 , wherein the method further comprises:
 receiving, with the electronic processor via the user interface, a login credential for a user; and   authenticating the user based on the login credential,   wherein generating the graphical user interface includes generating the graphical user interface in response to authenticating the user based on the login credential.   
     
     
         38 . The method of  claim 37 , wherein authenticating the user based on the login credential includes transmitting, via a transceiver of the adapter, the login credential to a server. 
     
     
         39 . The method of  claim 36 , wherein the one or more configurable device settings include at least one selected from a group consisting of a motor speed, a motor control performance, a thermal overload, a current limit, a motor overshoot, a motor undershoot, a motor steady state, and a product interface. 
     
     
         40 . The method of  claim 36 , wherein the changed device settings include at least one selected from a group consisting of a maximum speed setting of a motor of the gas engine replacement device, a minimum speed setting of the motor, an overvoltage setting of the motor, an overcurrent setting for the motor, an over-temperature setting for the motor, and a speed control algorithm for the motor.
