Information processing apparatus, method of controlling the same, and storage medium for setting a naming rule for a file name

Abstract

There is provided with an information processing apparatus and a method of controlling the same. The apparatus sets a naming rule for an image file and determines whether or not the set naming rule satisfies a predetermined condition. If it is determined that the naming rule does not satisfy the predetermined condition, the information processing apparatus warns a user. On the other hand, if it is determined that the naming rule satisfies the predetermined condition, the information processing apparatus generates a file name of the image file in accordance with the set naming rule, and stores the image file with the file name.

         11 . An information processing apparatus, comprising:
 a controller including a processor and a memory, the controller configured to:   provide a setting screen related to generation of a file name of a file,   wherein the setting screen enables a user to select one or more items to be used for the generation of the file name from a plurality of items usable for the generation of the file name, and   wherein display for inhibiting the selected one or more items from being registered to be used for the generation of the file name is performed on the setting screen in a state in which an item related to a date and time is not selected from the plurality of items.   
     
     
         12 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 11 , wherein the display for inhibiting the selected one or more items from being registered to be used for the generation of the file name includes display of a message for selecting the item related to a date and time. 
     
     
         13 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 11 , wherein the display for inhibiting the selected one or more items from being registered to be used for the generation of the file name includes display control for a user not to select a predetermined button on the setting screen in a case that the item related to a date and time is not selected from the plurality of items,
 wherein in response to reception of selecting the predetermined button by a user, selection of the one or more items to be used for the generation of the file name is completed.   
     
     
         14 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 11 , wherein the controller is further configured to:
 generate, based on the registered one or more items to be used for the generation of the file name, the file name of the file.   
     
     
         15 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 11 , wherein a date and time at which data included in the file is received is used for the generation of the file name of the file as a value corresponding to the item related to a date and time. 
     
     
         16 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 14 , wherein the controller is further configured to:
 store the file having the generated file name into a predetermined area in the information processing apparatus.   
     
     
         17 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 14 , wherein the controller is further configured to:
 store the file having the generated file name into an external server.   
     
     
         18 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 11 , wherein data included in the file is received via a facsimile. 
     
     
         19 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 11 , wherein the information processing apparatus is an apparatus being capable of receiving data via facsimile.

The information processing apparatus according to  claim 11 , wherein the plurality of items include an item related to a serial number of the information processing apparatus and an item related to a name registered in correspondence with a transmission source of data included in the file, other than the item related to a date and time. 
     
     
         21 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 11 , wherein the setting screen is displayed on a display with which the information processing apparatus is provided. 
     
     
         22 . The information processing apparatus according to  claim 11 , wherein the setting screen is displayed on another apparatus being different from the information processing apparatus. 
     
     
         23 . An information processing apparatus, comprising:
 a controller including a processor and a memory, the controller configured to:   provide a setting screen related to generation of a file name of a file,   wherein the setting screen enables a user to select one or more items to be used for the generation of the file name from a plurality of items usable for the generation of the file name, and   wherein a message for prompting the user to select, from the plurality of items, an item related to a date and time is displayed on the setting screen.   
     
     
         24 . A method of controlling an information processing apparatus, comprising:
 providing a setting screen related to generation of a file name of a file,   wherein the setting screen enables a user to select one or more items to be used for the generation of the file name from a plurality of items usable for the generation of the file name, and   wherein display for inhibiting the selected one or more items from being registered to be used for the generation of the file name is performed on the setting screen in a state in which an item related to a date and time is not selected from the plurality of items.   
     
     
         25 . The method according to  claim 24 , wherein the display for inhibiting the selected one or more items from being registered to be used for the generation of the file name includes display of a message for selecting the item related to a date and time.

The method according to  claim 24 , wherein the display for inhibiting the selected one or more items from being registered to be used for the generation of the file name includes display control for a user not to select a predetermined button on the setting screen in a case that the item related to a date and time is not selected from the plurality of items,
 wherein in response to reception of selecting the predetermined button by a user, selection of the one or more items to be used for the generation of the file name is completed.   
     
     
         27 . The method according to  claim 24 , further comprising:
 generating, based on the registered one or more items to be used for the generation of the file name, the file name of the file.   
     
     
         28 . The method according to  claim 24 , wherein a date and time at which data included in the file is received is used for the generation of the file name of the file as a value corresponding to the item related to a date and time. 
     
     
         29 . The method according to  claim 27 , wherein further comprising:
 storing the file having the generated file name into a predetermined area in the information processing apparatus.   
     
     
         30 . The method according to  claim 27 , wherein further comprising:
 storing the file having the generated file name into an external server.   
     
     
         31 . The method according to claim to  claim 24 , wherein data included in the file is received via a facsimile.

The method according to claim to  claim 24 , wherein the plurality of items include an item related to a serial number of the information processing apparatus and an item related to a name registered in correspondence with a transmission source of data included in the file, other than the item related to a date and time. 
     
     
         33 . The method according to claim to  claim 24 , wherein the setting screen is displayed on a display with which the information processing apparatus provided.

 providing a setting screen related to generation of a file name of a file,   wherein the setting screen enables a user to select one or more items to be used for the generation of the file name from a plurality of items usable for the generation of the file name, and   wherein a message for prompting the user to select, from the plurality of items, an item related to a date and time is displayed on the setting screen.   
     
     
         36 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a processor to execute a method of controlling an information processing apparatus, the method comprising:
 providing a setting screen related to generation of a file name of a file,   wherein the setting screen enables a user to select one or more items to be used for the generation of the file name from a plurality of items usable for the generation of the file name, and   wherein display for inhibiting the selected one or more items from being registered to be used for the generation of the file name is performed on the setting screen in a state in which an item related to a date and time is not selected from the plurality of items.

The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to  claim 36 , wherein the display for inhibiting the selected one or more items from being registered to be used for the generation of the file name includes display of a message for selecting the item related to a date and time.

The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to  claim 36 , wherein the display for inhibiting the selected one or more items from being registered to be used for the generation of the file name includes display control for a user not to select a predetermined button on the setting screen in a case that the item related to a date and time is not selected from the plurality of items,
 wherein in response to reception of selecting the predetermined button by a user, selection of the one or more items to be used for the generation of the file name is completed.   
     
     
         39 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to  claim 36 , the method further comprising:
 generating, based on the registered one or more items to be used for the generation of the file name, the file name of the file.   
     
     
         40 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to  claim 39 , wherein a date and time at which data included in the file is received is used for the generation of the file name of the file as a value corresponding to the item related to a date and time.

 storing the file having the generated file name into a predetermined area in the information processing apparatus.

 providing a setting screen related to generation of a file name of a file,   wherein the setting screen enables a user to select one or more items to be used for the generation of the file name from a plurality of items usable for the generation of the file name, and   wherein a message for prompting the user to select, from the plurality of items, an item related to a date and time is displayed on the setting screen.
