Abstract

A high pressure pump comprising a fluid end mechanically coupled to a power end. The power end is modular and comprises a crankshaft section, a crosshead section, and a connector section coupled together by a first set of stay rods. The fluid end comprises a plurality of fluid end sections positioned in a side-by-side relationship. Each of the plurality of fluid end sections are attached to the power end using a plurality of second set of stay rods.

 a plurality of nuts, each nut configured to be attached to an end of a corresponding one of the plurality of fluid end rods to secure the plurality of fluid end rods to the housing.

         7 . The apparatus of claim 1 , in which the stuffing box is of single-piece construction.

         8 . The apparatus of claim 1 , in which a plurality of threaded openings are formed within the housing, the plurality of threaded openings aligned with the plurality of passages formed in the stuffing box in a one-to-one relationship; and in which the plurality of fasteners are installed within a corresponding one of the plurality of threaded openings.

         9 . The apparatus of claim 1 , in which the fluid end assembly further comprises:
 a connect plate attached to the housing, in which an end of each of the plurality of fluid end rods is attached to the connect plate.

         10 . The apparatus of claim 1 , in which the housing is one of a plurality of housings, the plurality of housings situated in a side-by-side relationship; and in which each of the plurality of the housings is attached to the power end assembly using the plurality of fluid end rods.

         11 . The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising:
 a sleeve disposed around each of the plurality of fluid end rods and interposed between the fluid end assembly and the front surface of the power end assembly, in which each of the plurality of fluid end rods traverses the entire corresponding sleeve.

         12 . The apparatus of claim 1 , in which the fluid end assembly further comprises:
 a connect plate attached to the housing, in which at least a portion of each of the plurality of fluid end rods is disposed within passages formed within the connect plate.

         13 . The apparatus of claim 12 , further comprising:
 a plurality of fasteners attaching the connect plate the housing.

         14 . An apparatus, comprising:
 a power end assembly having opposed front and rear surfaces and comprising:
 a crank section comprising a crankshaft;
 a crosshead section offset from the crank section and comprising a plurality of crossheads; in which the crankshaft is joined to the plurality of crossheads by a plurality of connecting rods;
