Abstract

A computer system generates output representing one or more conditions of a linear asset, such as visual output representing both the linear asset and the conditions of the linear asset. The visual output representing the conditions may be displayed adjacent to the linear asset at positions corresponding to the locations of those conditions in the linear asset. The visual output may be generated and displayed in a compact manner, such as by displaying the visual output representing some linearly-overlapping conditions in different rows than each other, in order to stack that visual output over each other (e.g., vertically), while grouping some visual output representing linearly-overlapping conditions together within the same row as each other, and while displaying visual output representing non-linearly-overlapping conditions as separate (e.g., noncontiguous) visual output within the same row as each other.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first condition output comprises a first line segment.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the second condition output comprises a second line segment.

4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein (H) comprises assigning the second condition to the second row, and wherein the first line segment and the second line segment are parallel to each other.

5 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the first condition output comprises a plurality of first line segments, and wherein the second condition output comprises a plurality of second line segments.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein determining whether the first condition and the second condition satisfy the grouping criterion relative to each other comprises determining whether a priority of the first condition is equal to a priority of the second condition.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein determining whether the first condition and the second condition satisfy a grouping criterion relative to each other comprises determining whether a location of the first condition is in proximity to a location of the second condition.

         8 . The method of claim 1 :
wherein the first condition data has a first value of a first parameter; and wherein generating the first condition output comprises:
selecting a first visual characteristic based on the first value of the first parameter; and
generating the first condition output to have the first visual characteristic.

         9 . The method of claim 8 :
wherein the second condition data has a second value of the first parameter; and wherein generating the second condition output comprises:
selecting a second visual characteristic based on the second value of the first parameter; and
 generating the second condition output to have the second visual characteristic;
wherein the first value of the first parameter differs from the second value of the first parameter; and wherein the first visual characteristic differs from the second visual characteristic.

10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the first parameter comprises a priority parameter.

11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein (I) comprises displaying the first condition output near a first portion of the linear asset visual output that corresponds to the linear coordinates of the first condition.

12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein (I) comprises displaying the first condition output parallel to, and separated by some distance from, the corresponding portion of the linear asset visual output.

13 . The method of claim 11 , wherein (J) comprises displaying the second condition output near a second portion of the linear asset visual output that corresponds to the linear coordinates of the second condition.

14 . The method of claim 11 , wherein (I) generating the first condition output to have a curvature that matches a curvature of a first portion of the linear asset visual output that corresponds to the linear coordinates of the first condition.

15 . The method of claim 14 , wherein (J) generating the second condition output to have a curvature that matches a curvature of a second portion of the linear asset visual output that corresponds to the linear coordinates of the second condition.
